Recruiting update ( Defensive End Edition )

We need Chris Herndon to get in Robert Beal's ear. Beal goes to the same school Herndon came to us from.

No way we just take 2. If we have a shot other they're in. At 3-4 if available. Quality and size at DT had been our biggest problem for maybe 6-10 years. Kendrick Norton is our first real pure talent at that position un years

two ? that's not enough
we have 7 on the roster dude most teams only carry 8 and we also have no seniors

But how many are actually good? I think they are going to try to get at least 3 maybe 4.
you have Gerald Willis, Anthony Moten, Richard Mcintosh, Courtel Jenkins, and Kendrick Norton. You have Ryan Fines who probably is the only "talent" question mark and it's already been said that Patrick Bethel is 265 and is probably going to continue to put on weight so he'll probably move to DT and again Jonathan Ford is already commited. You can't just cut a guy because he's untalented if you need the bodies and again we don't have a senior on the DT depth chart.

several of those are juniors and yes you can send people packing who don't belong here -1 for accepting mediocre golden nut tugger

2 are juniors and you can neg me all you want, you don't cut people when you need the depth. Sorry if your soft shouldered self didn't like my answer that we don't have a lot of true DT prospects to choose from and AGAIN we're recruiting a lot of DE's who project to move to DT.

Having bodies for depth is still having no depth. It's about having quality players who can play and potentially be starters.

lets hear your future play makers at DT? We need play makers not depth kids . If we get 4 play makers you will have to make room . Kids who get buried in the depth chart by a true freshman usually transfer . Stick to basket weaving it more style

if your not recruiting to get better your not getting better. Keep a team full of Golden reaches at DT is about dumb as you get . Find out the ones who can make plays and recruit to replace the rest. We don't need DL to hold up blockers these days new staff

Right so it's ok to cut players even when you don't have that talent AND you need the bodies?? It doesn't matter how talented someone is IF YOU NEED THE BODY ON YOUR DEPTH CHART and YOU DONT HAVE ANY BETTER OPTIONS ANYWHERE ELSE even if he's a body he stays because your team NEEDS THE NUMBERS in case of injury. Why is that so hard to understand??

you recruit to replace this year not in three years.

Right and all those playmakers play as freshmen then your inexperienced guys on the field ?? Dude just stop they're not recruiting reaches and we don't know how talentless or talented the DT group is. You're acting like you've seen these kids up close but you haven't and according to the coaches speaking to the media our DL have been nothing but spectacular, I guess you chose to ignore that. They're not recruiting a lot of true DT's, they're looking at bigger DE's who could possibly move to DT. Jonathan Ford is one of those guys that are slated to move to DT even though they play DE in high school.

So you don't recruit to get better?

You bring in 3-4 guys at the position and the best guys will emerge. Our dts are not good enough to say they are not seniors so we only need 2.

Moten and jenkins will be seniors and 17, norton and mcintosh will be juniors, willis will be a rsjr if he doesn't have a monster year a decide to dip.

You bring in 3-4 and if one can play right away and you redshirt 2 or 3 that's the best course of action. That's how you build depth and have guys that are ready to step in when other guys leave.

Are you guys not reading what I'm writing???? They're aren't recruiting a lot of DT's. They're looking at guys like Jonathan Ford, Ryan Johnson, Elijiah Conliffe, and the JUCO Isaiah Suggs who are 250 + and in Conliffe's and Suggs case 280+ and are looking at moving them to DT. I've written this at least 5 times already.

They are still going to be dts. It doesn't matter what they are playing in high school. If they are being recruited at dt that's what they are.

Can't Willis go pro after this year? Need to keep that in mind

If guys like Willis, Kaaya, and CThomas go pro after next year, you can **** sure bet the house that we won 10-11 games and went to a BCS bowl game.

Esp Willis. To have played DT for only one full year and go pro he had a "Nick Fairly" type one-year campaign and our defense was absolutely dominate AND CThomas enjoyed the spoils of Willis's success/double teams and had a dominating year as well.

(none of this is a bad thing mind you. dream scenario. lol)

Not really. That year fairley was dominate auburn defense still wasn't good.

I agree but I just wanted to make the point that he could leave regardless.
