Recruiting Buzz and Potential Future Needs w/Brad & Geo (CanesWear Daily) Nov 20, 2024

Hayden Lowe

Candidate for early PT, can play against run in college

Kellen Wiley Jr

  • Last OV to Miami
  • Expects Miami to try to close this weekend.
  • Surprised he hasn't committed yet
  • Thinks he's a Cane

Tarvos “Tj” Alford II

  • O$U wants him in the class, but they're concerned about him exiting
  • Likeliest to commit next

Miami willing to take 4 LBs this cycle

Dallas Wilson

  • Not an immediate impact player, likely to play as a FR
  • Better chance w/Wilson than Brown
  • Have to get him back down for a visit
  • UCF involved here too

Ben Hanks Jr

  • Multiple visits, possible more visits to Miami coming
  • Geo was told to monitor VERY closely.
  • Miami with a real shot here

DJ Pickett

  • Close relationship w/Raymond
  • UF would've been a contender if Raymond was there
  • UGA a program to monitor
  • Miami still has a real chance here

Potential Flips

Possible name to monitor if Hartley leaves

Geo's Flip/Commit Predictions

Ben Hanks Jr (not ready to predict a flip yet)

Tim Merritt

Didn't show up for Duke, possible he sticks

Portal

Miami likely to take a transfer QB

Mateer

He's from OK, his OC may move to OK w/Mateer

Geo likes Tulane QB Mensah

WR

Jeremiah Smith

Day on shaky ground, if he doesn't get to the ship, he's in trouble

Branch

Going to be a major portal target, great fit for Miami

Concepcion

Multiple ACC schools involved here, multiple SEC schools interested (one in Texas)

Sam Brown

Geo only see's Horton coming back from WR group

Wilson and UCF is ******* comical hahaha not a **** chance man

And what does he mean by Dallas Wilson not being an instance impact player, but likely to play as a TF?

I wasn’t even going to say anything…

^^when I read that

You should check the history of OSU and firing HC's. I read the Herbstreit biography, and while I don't believe it, it is in the realm of possibility for them to fire Day.

With the house settlement and uncertainty for the next couple years, teams are going to be less likely to fire coaches (buyouts and extreme costs). Napier and Norvell are examples of that

Cover all your bases. Miami recruiting/personnel coverage 101.

On CIS, make a post about a recruit sucking and then in another thread you praise them. Then, 3 years later you bump whichever one was reality.

If Indiana beats OSU this weekend you bet your *** they will consider firing home boy. Bosters bought the best roster they could this year. You think there won’t be repercussions if they lose again?

There will be repercussions but schools are far less incline to dish out these 50 million dollar coaching changes. I just don’t think Day would get fired going 10-2 with two top 5 matchup losses and a CFP berth.

Probably won't be fired but feel OSU fans/boosters feel like he has been underachieving for the last few years.

Not sure if Lindend did not convey it correctly or Geo did not express clearly but I understood even though it was worded oddly. He will play as a true freshman but won't have a JSmith impact. Which is an odd take because I don't think anyone is expecting him to be that good on day 1.

I pray everyday for there downfall and JJ comes home. I don’t think ppl realize how hot Days seat really is.

Norman is a 2 and half our drive from Mateer's home. Closer than UT. He very well could be a OU fan. I certainly don't know.
I would love to see IU beat OSU for several reason.

Day is in no danger of losing his job.
I don’t think you guys have been paying attention, OSU is fed up with Day coming up short, the reason why they went all in is cause they are giving him rope to hang himself. There is definitely scenarios that If happen , he’s done there. They made him go get an OC . That’s literally the first tell sign . Every body that watches football and especially college football knows that’s the first tell sign. Happens all the time, a recent example jimbo at A&M made him go get a OC was tired of his play calls you see how that eventually played out. Miami tried to do it to CMR remember he ended up just stepping down. It’s boom or bust for them boys . They lose this Saturday his seat will be HOT and let them not win the Big ten seat will be even hotter . Then they fall short in the playoffs that will be it. I’m almost willing to bet my check on it. You can’t give someone 20 mil roster and they not give you results. I get the guys that say oh well look at his record while there. That’s all good and fine but when you have the talent he has been given and constantly fall short it becomes a problem.
