I expected the offense to go crazy yesterday. What I didn't expect was the defense to shut down UNC like that. That was one of the best offenses in the nation that they smothered. There's some legitimate good juju with this team right now. Next up is Florida State who comes to town in 2 weeks. I don't think it's necessarily always a conscious decision...I think we "take the easy route" subconsciously a lot of the time. it's innate to want to be right all the time, and we often do subconscious stuff to try to make that happen, or to at least argue that you were right after the fact. It's also innate to some sports fans in general to complain about everything, even when winning. ****, my dad used to complain about every close game during the dynasty years, when we were on top of the CFB world.

FTR, there's a difference between offering valid criticism and being a mope. The line gets blurred around here.

The way I and other people have gone out of their way to really bash Golden, saying some nasty things in the process, I think that in the event Golden is able really turn this season around merits some crow eating. Getting the doors blown off by FSU and/or losing to a crappy UVA or Pitt team would obviously remove any goodwill that's returned. But Golden has done a great job the past 2 weeks, better than anyone honestly thought he was capable of doing.

Crow eating may not be in order, but at the very least the vitriol should be dialed back a notch or two.

I'm ok to eat a crow appetizer, but not ready to belly up for a thanksgiving meal yet.

Dan, I love these write-ups, thanks so much for doing them. What an amazing game, unfortunately I couldn't watch it live, so my brother kept texting me updates and I couldn't believe it. Great effort by the whole team, Duke is truly special and we should all appreciate being able to watch this guy play every week. The defense does seem to be playing with a chip on their shoulder and I love it, we have really started to lay the wood on some folks and not just Perryman either.

It was a fact to almost every educated analyst as well. It killed me to do it, I put my money where my heart is not just *****ing from afar. Facts are facts, and calling them out as a mood is not always easy as you say..... Many of us so called mopes were not until late last year or early this year. How they have played lately, and the scheme being called is awesome and at the same time infuriating, but we can recognize progress but there needs to be more before the smoke clears, which believe it or not, most want. I'm tired of giving a high donation and season tickets from 2500 miles away and coming home bummed out on a long flight after yet another loss in a big game. Any fan of UM should be PO'd at the level of play we've seen the last 3 years. Any fan should be PO'd at the crappy defensive alignments, missed tackles, etc. Any fan of UM should be PO'd at Golden's record and the fact that he uses the same excuses over and over to the media.

Only a mope thinks it's a good idea to fly a banner, and then gets self-righteous if we win a game after the banner flies, as though the banner was the catalyst that made the team not miss tackles and that got the OL blocking better.

Only a mope roots for UM losses and complains when we win, because it ultimately means that Golden won't be fired just yet.

I am not buying it this year. Got stung last year; will wait to see it. Beat FSU AND win out and then, serve the crow. Even after that, I say Al and staff needs to be on ONE WEEK contracts. No security pass the next game. Heat seems to make them coach better. Without it, Al's pride is to great for his own good. Needs to feel the heat every week. A frustrated fan could also have wanted a loss to happen as counter intuitive as it seems if the fear is/was that a win at the time was only serving to put a band aid on a heart attack victim and only delay the proper treatment. Yes, if they have REALLY CHANGED, then the wins in fact are leading to getting this turned around, AWESOME. But if they go back to being the same brain trust that called Nebraska and GT, then i'd rather take short term loss to put us in position to have long term wins rather than wait another year to do the inevitable because of a deceiving "broken clock is right twice a day" win that masks the obvious for those looking to do nothing to fix it and wanting and excuse to do so.

You sound troubled, in that when we lose, Golden really does suck. The games we've won - are against teams that actually suck much worse than we do. And anyone that can't see the banner lit a fire under Golden's *** is brain dead, so I guess that somehow troubles you.

And the truth is, ever since Golden's game against Maryland, a large number of us saw the flaws in his schemes, and yes, we ****ed and moaned about it incessantly ever since - so yes, it only makes sense that Golden should have pulled his head out of his fat crease three years ago.

I get it. There are Miami coaches who come here to defend Golden, and then the extended family members of Golden or other coaches worried about losing their jobs, and you guys are just trying to muddy the water on the real source of our problems.

My only suggestion is to find another family.
