Reality of 2013

MLB Jimmy Gaines NR
Denzel Perryman 3* should be OLB, but playing ILB in 3-4
OLB Thurston Armbrister NR
OLB Tyrone Cornelius NR
Shayon Green - NR

Future (2015) - if the class stays together

ILB Raphael Kirby Sr 4*
ILB Juwon Young So 3/4*
WILB Alex Figueroa Jr 3*
WILB Darrion Owens So 4*
OLB Tyriq McCord Sr 4*
OLB AQM Jr 4*
OLB Demitrius Jackson R Fr 4*
OLB Trent Harris R Fr 4*
OLB Mike Smith R Fr 4*
Nickel LB Jermain Grace Jr 4*
That is a deep and talented group that would be very explosive and athletic and full of playmakers.

I think that a new DC that would implement an agressive 3-4 similar to the NO Saints this year could make the D dominant

Cornelius was a high 3 star and a 4 star on rivals or scout i forgot... Perryman was a high 3 star and a 4 star on two sites.. He had offers from FSU, UF, and most of the SEC. He was wanted by everyone the only reason his ranking was low was because of his stature at 5'11 205-208...

Who's idea was it to have this LBer core cover wide recievers 30 yards downfield as the base defense?

Reality check. 3 years in. If the LBs aren't good enough, then he should have brought in some better ones.

Who's forcing him to play a 4 star that everyone wanted (Kirby) behind Gaines?

I used the 247 ranking which had those guys as NR. DP was a 3* but he is a good player. He showed better flashes as a true freshman as a 4-3 will backer.

I agree with that, unfortunately we lost EJ, Gionni Paul, Gabe Terry, and Witt. It's been a challenge with recruiting the 4 & 5* players because of the possible sanctions.

Kirby may be one of those guys that should have red shirted and would be ready as a R-So.

Missing out on the BTW LB and Skai Moore hurt last year, but we are improving the quality and depth at the position this year.

I really like what I've seen of this years recruits. Looks like a dynamic group

I don't know why we continue harping on the same talent vs coaching debate. It's **** obvious its both. End of story.

/****, that's a poor group.

no one to blame but the coaches but

THREE linebackers booted from the team prior to the start of this season.

two STARTERS at that.

Gionni Paul was terrible. And we didn't "miss out" on Skai Moore. We didn't offer him until signing day. It looks like that was a poor decision based on him looking pretty good starting games as a true freshmans at South Carolina.

Cornelius was listed as a 4 star safety

Maybe it's just me but Kirby has not impressed...maybe he's still too green, who knows. All i know is, next year he better pick it up.

Nah Perryman was a 3 star on Rivals and ESPN, a 4 star on Scout. Cornelius was a 3 star on all the sites.

You all realize how few underclassmen make a significant impact at this level? The fact that we are having to rely on so many Frosh, RFrosh, and Sophomores is testament to how thin and untalented we are. Our starting MLB's only other offer was from Buffalo IIRC. Armbrister was an unranked project. Cornelius was a 3 star kid.

Please explain to me how much deeper, talented and experienced Duke and Maryland's defenses are

Maryland gave up 68 to FSU, 38 to Wake, and the same amount of points to UVA as Miami's did.

What is your point, exactly?

All I know is we used to recruit safeties and turn them into linebackers. Now we are recruiting defensive ends and turning them into linebackers. With all the coverage responsibilities I like the safety to linebacker route better.

Funny how you totally omitted Duke's stats from your reply. My point is obvious. You're just obtuse.
