are we gonna take for ‘19? Seems we are recruiting a lot of them.

I was thinking 4 cbs and 3 safeties if possible. If Richt closes on who he and Diaz want do we take more?

5-6 plus Richards as an athlete. Hard to see how we go past that unless Richt takes a bigger class than he is known for. We will take 11-12 kids just on the OL and DL. Add in 3-4 LBs, 2 TEs, 2 RBs, 1-2 WRs and a QB, and you dn’t have room for a big DB class. And many of the best DB options are at safety. We will have to be selective, is the truth.

The class numbers have to roughly look like this:

Offense: 10-11 kids
QB: 1
TE: 2 (one committed, others still being recruited, roster need)
RB: 2 (one committed, others still being recruited; McIntosh may be an athlete more than RB)
WR: 1-2 (Payton commmitted, Ladson and others being recruited. But note ‘20 has 3 WR commits already)
OL: 4-5 Eguakun, Cunningham committed, Neal, Lucas expected, Tarquin and others still being recruited)

Defense: 15-16 kids
DL: 7 kids. 8 if someone we cant refuse surprises us. 6 if we get the three guys we really want at each spot.
DT: 3-4 (Brown, Daxon committed, Sorrells, Ingraham, Hunter, T. Davis et al still being recruited)
DE: 3-4 (Ca. Williams committed, Bogle targeted, Summerall interested. Big depth issue on roster. Could take 4th kid here)

LB: 3-4 (Brooks, Pierre committed, Eaford, Brown, Solomon and others still being recruited)

DBs: 5 + Richards, IMO

S: 2-3 Very deep set of options at S, including gant, battle, k. Smith, stevenson, richards, logan, sanguinetti
CB: 2-3 We have needs. Not so clear how many kids fit is. Dent sounds like fsu. Couch maybe. The Cali kid. J. Davis we will see how he progresses. Elam i am skeptical. Dixon allegedly interested. Others will emerge.

My class projection as of today:

QB: Johnson, Jr.
RB: Crowley
WR: Payton, Ladson
TE: Hodges, Zipperer
OL: Cunningham, Neal, Eguakun, Lucas
DT: Brown, Daxon, Ingraham, Sorrells
DE: Bogle, Ca. Williams, Summerall
LB: Brooks + 2 (multiple options)
S/DB: Stevenson, K. Smith, Battle
CB: Couch + 1
Ath: Richards (S); McIntosh (RB/LB)

That is 27 kids, which is probably the high end of what Richt realistically takes.

that is an ELITE class!!! I see us taking another RB outside of McIntosh and Richards who come in as an ATHs, and we need another CB. We've gotta have 2 true corners. Also no Sanguinetti on your list?

**** what a good problem to have.

Sango is gonna be a corner.

Miami has not been recruiting Elam. Dent is likely not going to happen considering his brother already at FSU and for him to walk-on at Miami is expensive.

Cunningham might not even be in this class at the end, been wavering.

I don’t see Eaford as a realistic option.

I’ll take a stab at it but this could change over time.

QB: MJjr
RB: McIntosh, Crowley
WR: Payton, Ladson
TE: Zipperer, Hodges
OL: Neal, Eguakan, 2 between(Wright, Lucas, Putnam, Wardrick, Tarquin)
DE: Bogle, Cam
DT: Ingraham, Daxon, Renato, 1 between (TDavis, Sorrells, Hunter)
LB: Pierre, Huff, Brooks, 2 between (RDavis, Solomon, Brown)
CB: Couch, Sanguinetti, 1 between (Dixon or Renardo)
S: Stevenson, KSmith
ATH: Richards

28 in total. I would absolutely love to get Jaden Davis & Jordan Battle in this class. Despite what being said I know that Jaden has been a lean to UF for a long time. Battle is more likely. Father wants Miami, he’s really feeling OSU, I think he’s a guy they would make space for. Let’s say we happen to take 4 LBs instead of 5 or 3 DTs instead of 4. Could see those spots being added to either corner or DE. Ingraham will likely go the route that Bethel did starting at DE first and transitioned to DT after a year. If Miami lands Rian Davis, would not rule out the potential of him outgrowing OLB into a DE depending how much weight he will gain on his frame in college.

We need to take as many LBs as possible. It has not been this strong at the position in a while locally. We lose Perry and Smith and McCray(although he’s non-factor at LB), and could potentially lose Shaq and Mike and an attrition candidate could come out of the SLB logjam we now currently have. Taking 2-3 is just not viable or good depth wise. 4-5 minimum, cash in while there is supply. 2020 I have not seen yet if it will be even nearly as deep at LB tbh.

Lets hope you're right and the coaches learned from past experiences about not recruiting a position where people are most likely going to leave.

Your in lala land if you think your getting all of the above list.

Can’t comment on cunningham. Time wkll tell. Tarquin could be a replacement. If D. Wright wants in, you take him, no matter what.

That said, 5 LBs and 2 DEs? Cannot imagine that. DE is our worst roster spot over the next two years. DJ and JJ likely gone after this cycle, and decent chance garvin after next cycle we need 3 DEs minimum in this class. And 5 LBs is too many, all else aside. 3-4 is fine, and keep in mind McIntosh could end up there also.

Prob taking 4-5 OL since we only grabbed 3 last year.. Taking prob 6 DL total.. Def not Taking 5 LBs or 5/6 DB's...

Yes DE needs a fix but I think you read over where Ingraham would likely play DE his first year. RDavis could potentially grow into a DE considering he’s 233 right now. Kevin Harris a major longshot and I just don’t see who else would be viable as the 3rd DE in this class. It’s encouraging that Summerrall has been visiting but no guarantee, FSU and UGA pushing very hard for him. It would be bad to just reach for numbers sake.

They need to take 4 LBs minimum, 5 should be max. I don’t think people understand that it’s very very likely we lose 5 after the end of the season and could be a 6th with a transfer with the logjam that is now at SLB.

The type of LB crop this is this year. It is not wise to put a low cap like 3. Yes FL does produce LBs but not at the rate it has this year. Take while the supply is there, we are going to have a ton of departures at LB.

Me and D$ have been on the McIntosh highest ceiling is LB train for a long time but..... they are going to give him every opportunity to shine at RB first. Can’t recruit off a hypothetical like that.

6-7 DL, 4-5 LB and 5 DB sounds about right considering who they have targeted and following the tea leaves.

But remember we took 5 OL in 2017 (and I think 3 of them got a RS), so that's 8 in a two year haul. We're on schedule at OL. I agree on 6 DL and no 5th LB, but that still leaves room for 5 DBs.

If I had it my way...
1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WR, 2 TE, 4 OL, 6 DL, 3-4 LB, 3 CB, 2 S. Plus McIntosh (probably RB or LB) and Richards (could be DB/RB/WR) as athletes. That leaves us right at 28 (which I believe is our present cap for 2019, after you factor in the two grad transfers).
