Real talk - if 2014 is same as 2013 what happens?

If we go 9-4 and the defense improves, which it has too, almost by defualt, Golden's seat isn't even warm. Now that we lost our Senior starting QB, he has even more leeway. And while people here will tell you that's an excuse (after telling us how easy our schedule is because a bunch of teams are breaking in new QBs), it's really just a reality.

A defense improving because it's been so historically bad that it's almost impossible to be worse isn't an accomplishment and I hope the powers that be are smart enough to see this. Also, the last two Heisman winners have been redshirt freshmen. That's not an excuse either.

This coming from a guy who talks about looking at the norm and not the exceptions. When only 2 RS Fr have won the Heisman from how many?

Because football hasn't evolved over they years where freshmen come into college more ready to contribute. The game has changed on both the high school and college level where it's easier for freshmen to contribute. Especially after a redshirt year.

defense can't get better, sad that our fans don't see that our best players the past two year are now grown men!!! McCord has been the only consistent playmaker on the defense. Kamula made more plays the last few games of the year than Chick has made in a LONG time, and I'm a chick fan. The defense this year will be better, way more play makers on it.

As for the QB, we also have way more play makers on offense so he does not have to win the games, just manage and he will do it. Practice is the time to take some of those "suspect" passes one of the posters was referencing. We have not had this time of depth in a LONG time.

With all that, He should be on the hot seat if he does the same as last year. No question.

A return to competency and winning results against strong competition would turn a fan base back in his favor...eventually. I'm hoping for the former, no matter who the HC is.
