Rea Talk: Jon Richt

I'm not going to pretend I know what's going on in practice or what Jon Richt's responsibilities are but I know one thing. Without that last name, he's not getting an assistant coach position at Miami with his resume.

he coaches qb's yes mark works with them also but jon does coach the qb's he watches film with them, he does all the minutea stuff that mark as oc/hc can't do, he also does recruit as well not as primary guy but as a tag along guy, he got job so mark could spend time with him kid more but he actually serves a purpose, maybe his role is more quality control coach then actual coach in most respects but having played qb he does know the postion.

I expect him to take on more and more responsibility as time goes on and he learns more about coaching but for now this role works for him and he helps Thomas brown out some also, so he is for the most part a guy who helps where needed.

Give it time. He's little more than a GA now. CMR will bring him along. It's too early to say whether it will work or not.

So?

Coaches always hire who they know and have worked with before.

Some might say mich offense can spare the offensive spot and u can always afford to hide weak coach at te (because they can learn to block with oline then go catch with wr)

We have very little expertise on offense besides richt.. he himself admits rust, probably wouldn't hurt to have someone who could help him and add something to our offense... some good offensive coaches available

No, people just like to bash Richt, and Michigan is winning more. If we were in the title picture, people wouldn't care if Jon Richt was naked on the sideline doing the tomahawk chop.

He couldn't get the same job anywhere else in the country. For an OC that hasn't called plays in over 10 years taking over a squad that can compete for ACC championships on day one, he is not doing the OC or this program any favors.

Richt needs to get himself a real QB coach and OC if this team is ever going to be better than a 10 win program.

He brings absolutely nothing to the staff.

And you know this how?

Your hot take requires some factual context, otherwise you're just a loser malcontent talking out of your ***.

Jon Richt don't do a **** thing on this staff, except maybe take lunch orders and/or make sandwich and coffee runs for the staff.

He's stealing money from Miami

Maybe he also gets the water bucket for the players but that's about it.

If he wanted to give his son a spot on the staff he should have made him either grad assistant or put him on the support staff. Not made him a position coach.

Mark Richt is giving back $1 million of his salary for the IPF. So if he wants his son on da staff so da fawk what.

It's nice he donated for the IPF but he has to win. It may have bought him favor with the administration but not the fans. It simple win and it won't matter that Junior is on staff.

I am not posting this as a bashing thread. This is a legitimate question. What exactly does Jon Richt bring to the staff? His title is QB coach but CRM coaches QBs. You rarely hear his name associated with recruits which is odd since he is a young coach who you think would do well with recruits. So what exactly is his role in the staff? More support than anything?

Anyone who's coached football can tell you that having coaches that can spend more time with the backup players helps to develop them for possible starts in the future. Jon has spent his life around his father it is not unreasonable to expect he has learned from him.
