Both Ray-Ray and Jacory Harris simply dumbfounded me. How could both players be darn near perfect in HS, and look like dookie stains in college? Anyone?

coaching

Wrong answer... Just not as talented as once thought.

Jacory was a great highschool qb because he was in a great system with 3 high BCS caliber receivers. When he got to college his decision making and lack of arm came to light.

Ray-Ray was a great highschool player because he was big, had alright speed, and pretty good instincts (both on O and D). When he got to college his lack of hips, footwork, and speed came to light(I did believe he had the ability to be a good LB or TE tho). His defensive highlight reel coming outta highschool was maybe 5 tackles and people went crazy off of it.

yeah the constant stream of under performing highly rated recruits we've had in teh last 10 years has nothing at all to do with coaching. we're just really unlucky

it was the lack of depth, overall talent around these players, and competition as it always seemed these guys walked in as unquestioned saviors the moment they sniffed campus; once they are put on teams without the aforementioned deficiencies they thrive

Ray Ray was phenomenal in high school. You kidding me? Bonafide 5 star. I just think the problem is he played the wrong position. Should have been a LB.

No I do believe some players are a victim of bad coaching but I don't think those two are good cases...Jacory's situation reminds me of Mitch Mustain without the arm and RayRay's is a common theme after Sean Taylor came (alot of skinny lb's think they are safeties)

I don't consider Ray Ray a bust... As a true sophomore splitting time he was an All-ACC performer... We basically played him in the box anyway but he played safety to get our best performers on the field... He took some bad angles but he was still learning the position we haven't had production similar to his 2010 stats since he departed...

Linebacker would have worked but we had solid line backing play during his tenure... I mean the Big 12 DPOY was our top reserve and when he played against us he wasn't the best lb on the field... Cmac, Spence, Dsharp, and Buchanon allowed Ray Ray to play safety... He wasnt a disappointment... Now his suspensions his last 2 years hurt us...
