I remember your post last night about some red flags you had been seeing for a while leading up to this game. After seeing these comebacks are you still really concerned going forward or you think it's some things that could be worked out in the BYE? Obviously the secondary personnel isn't changing unless Damari returns so i know that will be a concern all year...

Yeah this is what I’m thinking as well. They’re still going to think Bama and UGA would be favored against us and have them above us.

Defense and tacking are awful. Setting the edge and leverage also bad. Now we’re mixing in blown coverages. We’re a very flawed team that has unreal fight and heart. To be blunt it’s one of the dumber teams but want to and effort goes a long way. That said as long as you have the ultimate eraser at qb you have a shot. Even if he’s erasing his own dumb mistakes.

We need DB back and to get healthy the off week.

A lot of ranked matchup the next 2-3 weeks.

Psu Oregon should both have Losses coming up.

And Texas, UGA, Tenn, and Bama are going to start playing each other.

Every team seems to have flaws except for maybe Texas and OSU. Which makes for great CFB across the board. All these upsets remind me

Defense and tacking are awful. Setting the edge and leverage also bad. Now we’re mixing in blown coverages. We’re a very flawed team that has unreal fight and heart. Constant motion and eye manipulation. It’s like dangling a piece of meat in front of a Pitbull. They’re getting what they want situationally. No eye discipline or fundamentals. I think we need to go more vanilla at times. Simplifying things. This is manny level tackling with horrible play in space.

Nah, VT is a solid team. They played Vandy closer than Bama did. . We shouldn't have dropped last week.

This!! It’s glaring how much better this defense performs when we base down and dial down the aggressiveness.

After 1, 4, 9, 10, 11 lost yesterday and we were ranked 8th going in and won I am hoping that worst case we’ll move up to 6th now. Any chance Bama stays ahead of us with the loss to Vanderbilt but the win vs Georgia? I don’t see any way Tenn stays ahead of us as they haven’t beaten anyone.

I wonder if any of the voters will realize that VT, a team we beat, played Vandy tougher than mighty Bama did.

We are a top 5 team. Are we perfect? No. No team is right now. We are winning, though, and showing we can score on anyone. Cal's D is for real. So is VT's.

Agreed, last night was obvious too. Watched a WR cross formation and said out load “balls coming back the other way” and sure enough, it did and no one in the area.

Big 10 **** the bed this year.

SEC is eating each other alive which just helps them get more teams in this year when its usually just 2 of Bama, LSU or Georgia dominating at a time.

That right there is why we’ve been struggling to stop the run. In particular, the off tackle runs have been killing us. Yes crappy tackling. Yes poor angles. But it starts with setting the edge and we are not doing that well.

Haven’t rewatched the game but it seemed like we went more vanilla on 2H. Even played some 4-3 with Kiko, popo & Wes. I wonder if we have a bit more “bend don’t break” keep things in front of us mentality. If that helps.

I’m most concerned about what @LuCane pointed out about the safety play. I wonder if we can check into something when slot goes into motion. I’ll be watching UL game with a bottle of pepto…
