Ranking the teams on our schedule

Just saw a mock draft where fsu has 9 guys projected in the first two rounds. We have 1, it's assuming no Duke, so call it 2 real world.

9 > 2

There isn't any amount of guys we could have drafted thereafter that would give us equal or even close to equal talent levels.

I would agree that FSU are more talented than UM right now by a pretty wide margin. What about the rest of the teams on our schedule?

I wouldn't say there is another team on our schedule that is more talented than us. With that said, I believe that our talent level right now is pretty close to the VT's and Nebraska's when looking at the team as a whole. However, I'd be curious to see how we compare at key positions: QB, OL, DT, DE
You get a real difference maker at QB and DT, that can cause a 3-4 win swing in your season. The fact that we are loaded with tons of talent at WR or DB doesn't really mean a whole lot. They are great complimentary pieces, but Stacey Coley with Gray Crow throwing to him is a completely different guy than if a stud is tossing it. On the flip side, a really talented QB can make a 3* WR look much better than reality. Perfect example is a guy like JJ Worton at UCF (via passes from Bortles).

There's no way to know.... but if I had to guess I'd say we take a pretty good leap forward on the defensive line, we take a slight step back on the offensive line, and quarterback is the big question mark.

I was never high on Morris so i think if its' Heaps/Williams either one will be a step up.

FSU loses 10 starters. They can be beaten.

Freeman
Wilder
Abram
Benjamin
Shaw
Stork
Jernigan
McAllister
McDaniels
Jones
Demps
Hicks
Smith
Joyner
Brooks

Anything is possible

FSU loss 8 starters and only returns:
7 starters on offense
6 starters on defense

Yes, but they have 9 players expected to go in the first two rounds of the '15 Draft. They are f'ing loaded and have a QB that only a great defense will stop. Certainly, we CAN beat them--as could a couple other teams on their schedule. That said, we're a year away from going head to head talent-wise. Remember, they've had some really solid classes the last few years, there will be some guys at fsu that emerge this year that you've never heard of before (aside from HS recruiting).

They have something called depth where in the player behind those players can come in and play at the same level or better. Eddie Goldman(#1 DT) can try to replace Jernigan(#1 DT), Dalvin replaces Wilder, Andrews and Ramsey replace Joyner and Brooks, Lane and or Rudolph can supplement for Shaw but not Benjamin, Barron to replace Stork, Eligwe/Thomas/Levenberry to replace Jones, etc. Its scary how much talent they have acquired in 3-4 years.

While I do think they'll dropoff in terms of performance with those losses, they will still dominate. Their WRs are going to suffer without Benjamin, DT play may suffer without Jernigan, and the lack of leadership may be felt with Joyner and Brooks gone.

I just had a WTF moment when I seen Duke only have one 4/5 star on their roster.

When I went through this exercise it blew me away.... Charlie Strong and Cutcliffe are elite coaches, especially Strong. How was he able to get so many 3 stars drafted, that's the sign of a talent evaluator right there.

Guy would have been a monster at Miami.

On the flip side of that, you wonder why Mike London still has a job if they can't be competitive this year in the coastal.

No excuses for Miami, we have the best team in the Coastal, this is the year we need to win it point blank.

I wouldn't call them elite.

Strong underachieved at UL having the most talent in the Big East by a wide margin.
Faced a Miami team that was minus 3 key offensive weapons and a dud for a QB.

And I like Cutcliffe. Kudos to the Duke Admin for not listening to the fans who wanted him fired and sticking with him.
But last year was lightning in a bottle for them. This year they get put back in place.

I disagree about Strong. I would rather have Charlie Strong in Miami than Nick Saban. Yep, that's right. Strong has demonstrated Butch Davis like abilities to find diamonds in the rough. It's pretty scary to think what he'll accomplish at Texas.

Saban, on the other hand, has nearly 70 kids on his roster who were 4/5 stars in high school. A trained monkey could coach that team to the national title. They have hundreds of people who all they do all day long is call and mail recruits.

Cutcliffe seems to win without much talent at all. Strong finds diamonds in the rough, Cutcliffe wins with garbage. Two different means to the same end I guess.

That said, Louisville would have absolutely destroyed Duke last year.

Is this real life?

Strong better then Saban and as good a talent evaluator as Butch. LOL, I want what you are smoking.

Strong is so **** good he choked away a few Big East titles. Strong will not be at Texas in 5 years

Difficulty ranking of the games:

1. FSU
2. @Nebraska
3. @ Louisville
4. @VT
5. @GT
6. Pitt
7. Dook
8. UNC
9. @UVa
10. Ark St.
11. Cincy
12. FAMU

Going out on a limb with Pitt but I kinda chose them over UVa as the one mediocre team to make some strides this year. We need to be careful with Ark St. too. I think we take it to Dook hard this year just to set some things right in the universe again.

This guy is a fantastic coach with smart players. Might be a great NFL coach, too. Ole Miss apparently couldn't use his talent.

I already assumed that at least the fans were underestimating UC, but this is extreme. Can I ask your reasoning behind ranking them so low?

Our toughest games are:

FSU
@Ville
@VT
@Nebraska
UNC
@GTech
Duke
Cincinnati
You look at that list, and then you look at our question marks.. qb? ol? dt? To me, this year will be the tell all of this staff. We have better than serviceable guys on the ol, can Keyhoe get it done? We have a question mark at qb but undeniable talent at rb, wr, and te.. can Coley get it done? And of course the defense, we have Wyche and Heurtelou at DT now, who knows how that will turn out. At lb we have Perryman, but who knows what's going to happen around him now. How is Dnofrio going to handle that? Nothing new here but I think this is the perfect time for a tougher schedule. We should go at worst 7-1 vs those teams, anything less is on the coaching staffs heads. The cloud is gone, the jags littered all through the 1/2 are gone, the culture of laziness and weakness is gone. The staff better show us they can coach by answering those question marks. This is the 4th year, this is the year RS sadly showed he wasn't up to the Miami task. This is the year we find out if Golden is up to the Miami task and I think it will be so obvious that even slurpers and fence guys like myself will either be verified or changed.
