Not much difference here boys.

At the end of the day this is how Golden is measured.

They both suck, but Al Tin had to live with Shannon's mess and the cloud and the program was dormant longer. Shannon only had to live with ****e's mess and Shannon had a hand in creating ****er's mess. Having said that, they both suck!

Golden is still > Shannon but that isn't saying much. At least if/when Golden gets fired there should be a talented roster left behind.

It's man up time for Golden, if he doesn't change things he will fail. By now he has to realize his defensive scheme is an utter failure.

Based on what? I see a few difference makers but Golden hasn't shown some great recruiting prowess. Hes been pretty average so far. This class could still lose some key guys down the stretch. We don't appear to have a chance with any of the big names left. We also have guys leaving the program in droves every year. He hasn't shown to be any better than Shannon to this point except in his ability to speak in public and last night he sounded like a clueless moron after the undressing he received.

golden gets much more leeway... he had to deal with much more futility and a scandal he had nothing to do with... shannon was part of the futility he took charge of, and he did a great job of making us worse.

Actually, last night was probably the first time this year that I thought we put on a Shannon type of performance. The most frustrating thing about Shannon's teams was that they HAD PLAYERS but just seemed like they didn't care to play every third game or so. Golden's teams have generally tried hard but haven't been that great. There have been a few occasions where I thought they got demoralized because they don't trust their defensive coaching (Duke), but overall I thought they bought in. Last night was the first time this year that I thought they looked disinterested and just bailed once things didn't go their way.

Golden probably sees it the same way. I haven't paid any attention to anything he's said since the game, but that's probably the aspect that he's trying to come to terms with most.

Because we had enough talent to be 11-1 in the regular season with good coaching.

I'm not trying to defend Golden here, he doesn't deserve it. But he had sanctions to deal with the first 3 years. I know it's become a joke around here but it had an effect. The roster is still set up for success, especially after we bring in the 2014 class.

Shannon's 09 and 10 class were a disaster. 11 class had to be put together in a month. Despite those being our upperclassman we had enough to win 11 games. That gives me hope despite our coaching issues

Hard for me to say this is an 11 win team with good coaching when you get blasted in 4 games. Having great talent will find a way to keep these games closer even with ****** coaching. Talent is better but not to a great extreme. Golden really needs to hold this recruiting class together.

Agree, this class needs to be held together.

Our coaching on defense is inept. Comically bad. Change that and we beat VTech and Duke. I personally think Coley was bad all year too. Hard to hit expectations when your DC and HC have a terrible defensive scheme and your OC is mediocre at best.

Goldens better at recruiting and press conferences...in terms of schemes and player development they are equal...Al just does a better job of making it look like he cares when he talks

The schedule was weak as a premie baby. That's the only reason this team was anywhere near ten wins. Eeked out wins against Wake and UNC. D got steamrolled by anyone with a pulse. You could probably say the same for many of Snake's teams, too.

8-10 loss team playing Auburn's schedule.

Personally, on the field, Golden=Shannon imo. Shannon's offenses were so bad, but his defense was not as bad as some seem to believe. Shannon's offenses were far worse than what we have now and our defense spent a lot of time on the field and still managed. Golden's defenses are horrible. Equally as bad as Shannon's offense.

What I'm afraid of his player development under Golden might be just as bad if not worse than under Shannon. I haven't seen anything to show me players are improving.

The only thing Golden is better at is the media and recruiting, but without success on the field, none of that is going to matter.

randy had spent years around a big time program and had a 2008 class that was more talented than any golden brought in so far. 2014 will probably exceed that. Golden is coming from mac so he is just learning how to coach big games and bowls which is unfortunate. the ncaa stuff mattered. my friend coached gerald bowman who is at usc and david williams a rb who is a fresh at south carolina. both liked miami alot but said the sanction stuff other coaches told them had them worried. he also coached jalen strong who told he didnt visit because he was hearing same stuff and as a juco, just like bowman he wanted to compete in big bowls.

also, ag is pitching our tradition and telling South Florida kids they need to win in their hometown. He brings in the former players. Shannon didnt allow them around and his attitude was like "who cares if sf kids leave. then he went to west coast for gems like kalvin cain and asante cleveland and upstate ny for jimmy gaines."

I thought golden was a program builder?! Lol remember he made temple relevant? Now your saying he's just learning to coach? Lol

I'm a Golden slurper, but last night was embarrassing. He gets one more year. We need to win the coastal next season. Coach D is also a joke.

ALways have been a Golden supporter.

However, after that game I am starting to get impatient. Next year is his year to prove himself and his philosophies.

Don't get be wrong 9 wins is definitely nice. But, some of our losses were brutal and we were run out of the building. Cannot happen next year

His players will be upperclassmen and its time to show he can lead us to ACC Ships and BCS Bowls
