After failing to land a DC gigs at FSU, Oregon, UL, and UGA among others top DC jobs around the country, Shannon may just have found his next job as a DC.
And he won't need to move far for it either.
Urban Meyer hired Arkansas DC Chris Ash who led Arkansas to a #76 total defensive ranking for the same position at Ohio State leaving the door wide open for Shannon to finally land a DC gig after 4 years of his firing as HC from Miami.

C'mon Randy we're all pulling for you.

LOL! Arkansas sees him as a bagman for one or two SFL idiots, and that is all.

A tale of irony. Shalala exposed him and now he is fin.

Hope he gets it. Regardless, Randy is family and deserves his due for years of blood, sweat, and effort. It is not his fault he got promoted beyond his ability. Would any of us turn down HC job? He did not destroy THE U on purpose; that honor is reserved for the administrations going back to Foote.

What's gonna be funny is watching Dorito pick up trash off the Jersey turnpike after this thing implodes.

the OP is so mad that Godlen has been exposed as being a worse HC than Randy, that he's going to give himself an aneurysm trying to remind everyone about Randy's current whereabouts

CBs with size are all the rage now in the NFL. Was Randy actually a visionary and not a corch?

I would actually like randy to get a DC job so we could see if was the players, his DC coaching ability, or both that made his defenses so good.

I think I know the answer but I would like to see it play out infront of my eyes.

I have zero interest in Randy getting a job that does not in some way benefit Miami.

If he gets a job as a DC in an SEC school I cannot possibly see how that helps us.

I suspect that if we hired him at the beginning of Golden's tenure we'd be better than 90th of whatever we are on defense. Whether that's a comment on Shannon or Dono is up to the reader, but I don't think we're in a great spot to poke fun at any defensive coach.

If this type of thread doesn't show you that OP has an agenda, then I dunno what will

Get over Randy Shannon OP. He hasn't been here for 3 years. He may have sucked as a head coach but he is more of a Cane than Golden can ever hope to be.

Ok, let's watch how this plays out. Puts Randy on the spot and very telling if he fails to land the job.

I would think the actual interview holds Randy back. You cannot answer questions from a AD and head coach by saying "I will work to get things done"

I'm sorry but all of his pressers were brutal here. He may know how to coach X and O's but no way he can talk his way into it. He was awful the year he was on ESPNU as an analyst as well. Not much insight and stiff as a board. He will need a former Cane from the coaches fraternity to give him another shot to be more than a position coach.

Would Shannon have more success implementing Al's defense? Rhetorical.

My real question is: Is it D'Onofrio, the talent, or Al's defense that is the problem? Almost certainly a combination of the three. D'Onofrio is the one catching the heat, but I don't know if he is the main problem. If the main problem is Golden's defense, then D'Onofrio may be the scapegoat. I don't expect anyone here to have the answer. We're going to have to let it play out until our hindsight reaches 20/20.

Shannon's defense and this defense are complete opposites philosophically. I like a simpler more aggressive style personally but I dont really care. All I care about is the endpoint--success or lack thereof. I don't love this defensive style but I can get onboard with it without issue if it stops being a sieve.

As far as the Dono/Golden thing, Dono in my mind is only here because Golden trusts him to implement the defense. There is no "Dono's not the problem, Golden's defense is." There is no Dono without Golden.
