Question to parents of players and recruits

Here its about an 80-20 split...20 percent of the post here cast shade...but unfortunately the shade or negativity becomes the squeaky wheel and musters 80 percent of the attention...I told Shaq to never come on the site...I didn't want him to characterize Miami's fan base by what transpired on this site.. granted I realize that here is a collection of some of UM biggest and most passionate fans... but still there is a lot of stuff said here that would offend Satan himself... So i would advise take what is said here with a grain of salt..ignore what you dem as ignorance...don't advise any recruits to visit here...One dude said i was an idiot cause i would allow my kid come and play for Al Golden...I almost got ****ed.. but realize he was ignorant to what we believe to be true.. coaches come and go The U shall remain...

Just wanna say I'm really **** happy that you and your son stuck through that dark period with golden, when anyone with a rational thought process would understand if you wanted your son to be put in a better position for personal success. That's true loyalty to a university which is like spotting a unicorn nowadays. :based-duke::neonu:

Just my opinion...if you want to play football for a living, you don't get to live in a bubble. You get paid to play a game and entertain people, and fans are gonna act the way fans act, it's just part of the package.

Are Miami fans that bad? Not really. And actually, it's good prep for the NFL because if a player can handle the fans at Miami they will be fine in the NFL. They'll know how to deal with dumb fans and the media and all that, which they wouldn't learn in Hicksville USA

I guess I'm saying if Miami Canes fans can get under your skin, how are you gonna ever deal with being a New York Giant or Philladelphia Eagle? We're pretty mild here IMO but it's good experience

Yes. It's in Harrisburg. The school used to be in an old part of town, but they built a new school three years ago. The facilities at the new school are really nice.

I'm not one to disparage players or the families of player.

Advise to a potential recruit visiting this site:
Use the negative comments as another source of motivation.
Before getting too upset, take a look at the track record of some of these so-called "experts".

It is part of every single fan base.

You won't see half or even three quarters of what some of our supposed fans say on other websites.

While there are some good posters here, there's a lot of supposed fans who I believe never matured past middle school.

There's ways to speak your mind without being so juvenile about it.

you should have asked this question last year. There has been a substantial amount of improvement in terms of the health of the board since richt has been here compared to when he wasn't. It's incomparable if we are being honest.

You're a fxcking joke.

Honestly I love to hear the opinions of others on this site. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and though I may not agree with some, I still think there is some great info being shared on here. All that should matter to recruits in my opinion is how the coaches feel about them and how they feel about the coaches and University.

We are no different from any fan base in the country. Matter of fact those rednecks are worst. Threatening kids lives when they decommit and all. That soft shoulder mentality ain't gonna work here. Ask Al Folden

This sight would not be constructive for positive recruiting if a player were to see it. Ive thought about this a lot myself because I've read things that I know wouldn't be taken the right way if seen by recruits or recruit's families. I know recruits personally who have gone on here and read things and leave with a bad taste in their mouth. Just the way some people talk about recruits is honestly ridiculous and I'm not even talking about them bashing a player; Simple things like saying whether a guy is a "take" or not is honestly just stupid. Some comments make the players sound like property, saying things like "if we cant get ____ , then we should offer and take ____". No one on this sight has any say on who we offer and who we take .. The talking on this site should be limited to the people who are offering decent insight to threads on a consistent basis.

I don't think this site is good for players and parents of players to read, but not because of the use of the word "take".

1.) that's the lingo of the sport and is used by every coaching staff and fan base

2.) these kids have no issue with Alabama and Auburn and Ole Miss and Florida State, whose fan bases want to actually own young black men, not to "imply" ownership of them on their recruiting board, and bring the Stars and Bars to their tailgates.

The Ole Miss fight song is ****ing Dixie and the students end it by yelling "the south will rise again"...and that **** literally happens every night at closing time at the bar. But they have won a lot lately, so kids go there.

There's a lot of real history available to those who care to know, some from original sources. It's a lot more complicated than you appear to know.

I try not to trash croots... but when we are crootin' CB's and WR's that run 5 flat 40's I mean cmon I have to say something.... Other than that once they put on the Hurricane Uniform its game.... Steed and Quarterman are Miami Caliber and its easy to see no bashing here...Your a grown man in my books at 18...I fintd it hard to believe they wont be successful here at Miami bariin ginjury

First off, this is Miami. This is not a normal college environment and definitely not a typical college program. What exists in South Florida could really be comparable with a semi-pro team; Expensive private school, plays in professional stadium with a national fan base.

We expect our players to be gladiators. We expect them to leave here and dominate on the professional level, we have the history to support our expectations. There are fans in the NFL that will cheer when a player gets knocked unconscious, there are fans who pray for players to get hurt. I expect every Miami player to give out more punishment than they ever take in, on and off the field.

If you are not G.U.M.P., then this may not be the place. We are the most hated team in history and we thrive on it, we use it like fuel; it motivates our creativity and ignites our passion. Criticism makes our players intensify their work, increase their efforts and we can't wait to let you know about it game day. C'mon man, all a poster can do is post up.
We Hit, Stick, Bust **** and TALK ****, TALK ****, TALK ****!

This. The environment Miami offers is very unique for any college kid, and probably a very good thing. As far as hr gladiator ****. Whatever. As long as a kid gets drafted into the league thats all that matters.

As far as parents and their kids are concerned, I would look at the track history of a coach, and the school helping to get kids drafted over the win/loss percentage of a school. Wins look good in college. What matters most is getting drafted.

There is no doubt that other fans can be more rabid and brutal.
Even the worse here pales in comparison to what I would hear
When living in Seattle and Jacksonville.

Am very glad that there was no internet during my time as a student athlete.
It was bad enough hearing the occasional obnoxious shouting from someone
who thought that buying a ticket gave them free reign to make an *** of themselves.

This is a great site, lots of great information which would otherwise be very difficult
to attain.

This sight is special because of players' family members like Pops Shaq and Steed, writers like Pete, local youth and HS talent experts like Gogeta and guys connected to the program like D$. There's excellent information and discussion on here. And great dialogue.

I believe you should never criticize a recruit or player and instead focus on the positives. Most kids aren't good.enough and some of the local recruits just need to get away. I choose to focus on the good.ones that want to be Canes.

That said, I've broken my own rule for kids like Keith Bryant or the Wilson kids because they were so disrespectful. And coaches are absolutely fair game. At the end of the day, it's a public discussion board. Fans have a right to voice their opinions. No recruit should ever ever let his decision be swayed based on public boards.

Well said. Agree 100%.

Go Canes!

You were an Al Golden supporter up until the moment he was fired. Please don't comment on this topic.

Kids who base decisions on fan forums are not being given the proper perental advice. Parents who read these college boards that consist of the 5% of the most rabid fans and imposters should understand what they are reading.

My kid is looking at colleges in another sport. Every sport has their opinionated fans who hide behind the keyboards. It really should be addressed by smart coaches who know it is going on an address it with recruits. Everything should be addressed by the coaches. I think Golden was wishing it would just go away. I really think he thought everything would just wash over. By not addressing issue he made them bigger than they really were. Fans have nothing else to do except think that the illuminati is behind our lack of DL recruiting unless you address it.
