Began reading this site a few weeks ago
and find many postings in which we are
degrading our coaching, players and team.

From what I see, we have excellent coaching.
This is the University of Miami Hurricanes,
there is no reason to play second fiddle to any
University in regards to Recruiting. We will rise again,
intelligent player will see it and commit to us.
Those who don't see it will commit somewhere else
by following the past.
You belief you are a winner, you become a winner.
You see yourself as less than the best, you will never
Be the best.

My question is do potential recruits read this
site, and if they do, how does the negativity affect the
commitment decision.

you should have asked this question last year. There has been a substantial amount of improvement in terms of the health of the board since richt has been here compared to when he wasn't. It's incomparable if we are being honest.

This sight would not be constructive for positive recruiting if a player were to see it. Ive thought about this a lot myself because I've read things that I know wouldn't be taken the right way if seen by recruits or recruit's families. I know recruits personally who have gone on here and read things and leave with a bad taste in their mouth. Just the way some people talk about recruits is honestly ridiculous and I'm not even talking about them bashing a player; Simple things like saying whether a guy is a "take" or not is honestly just stupid. Some comments make the players sound like property, saying things like "if we cant get ____ , then we should offer and take ____". No one on this sight has any say on who we offer and who we take .. The talking on this site should be limited to the people who are offering decent insight to threads on a consistent basis.

So true, a year ago others teams couldve just showed recruits this board to make them lose interest.

I'm pretty certain any other school with a large following and rabid fanbase has fan forums that do and say the same exact things. I agree people say some stupid **** but kids shouldn't be so soft. If you go to any big school the fans will love you if you do well, and want to rip you apart if you fumble away a key game.

Oddly structured post. Thought I was gonna get some clever Dr. Seussey like rhyme. Oh well, see westcoastcanes post for answer.

Go Canes!

Here its about an 80-20 split...20 percent of the post here cast shade...but unfortunately the shade or negativity becomes the squeaky wheel and musters 80 percent of the attention...I told Shaq to never come on the site...I didn't want him to characterize Miami's fan base by what transpired on this site.. granted I realize that here is a collection of some of UM biggest and most passionate fans... but still there is a lot of stuff said here that would offend Satan himself... So i would advise take what is said here with a grain of salt..ignore what you dem as ignorance...don't advise any recruits to visit here...One dude said i was an idiot cause i would allow my kid come and play for Al Golden...I almost got ****ed.. but realize he was ignorant to what we believe to be true.. coaches come and go The U shall remain...

Boy am I thankful your son plays for us! Lol

My son and I son read the posts on this site. My son will be a sophomore this year and is the starting left guard for Bishop McDevitt H.S. (same school that LeSean McCoy played for). He is 6'2", 290lbs...and still growing and was a two-time FBU Top Gun selectee. His head coach, who has been an UA All-American Bowl assistant coach, has told us, that barring injury, we won't have to pay for his college. We just laugh at the armchair coaches and recruiting "experts" on here. It does get frustrating at times reading some of the disparaging comments about the players. Golden and his group of flunkies deserved everything they got from the fans, but the comments about 16-18 year old recruits, and their families (at times) makes some of our fans look like petulant children.

My wife and I graduated from The U, and yes, Miami is his "dream school." Hopefully, his dream will come true and he won't get called a "Plan B" kid or a "JAG" by someone who thinks that they are in the know. If so, he'll just prove them wrong.

I mostly stayed off the forums when Angela Means was under attack...it was foolish children (I hope) with no filter and way over the line at times.

I don't think this site is good for players and parents of players to read, but not because of the use of the word "take".

1.) that's the lingo of the sport and is used by every coaching staff and fan base

2.) these kids have no issue with Alabama and Auburn and Ole Miss and Florida State, whose fan bases want to actually own young black men, not to "imply" ownership of them on their recruiting board, and bring the Stars and Bars to their tailgates.

The Ole Miss fight song is ******* Dixie and the students end it by yelling "the south will rise again"...and that **** literally happens every night at closing time at the bar. But they have won a lot lately, so kids go there.

First off, this is Miami. This is not a normal college environment and definitely not a typical college program. What exists in South Florida could really be comparable with a semi-pro team; Expensive private school, plays in professional stadium with a national fan base.

We expect our players to be gladiators. We expect them to leave here and dominate on the professional level, we have the history to support our expectations. There are fans in the NFL that will cheer when a player gets knocked unconscious, there are fans who pray for players to get hurt. I expect every Miami player to give out more punishment than they ever take in, on and off the field.

If you are not G.U.M.P., then this may not be the place. We are the most hated team in history and we thrive on it, we use it like fuel; it motivates our creativity and ignites our passion. Criticism makes our players intensify their work, increase their efforts and we can't wait to let you know about it game day. C'mon man, all a poster can do is post up.
We Hit, Stick, Bust **** and TALK ****, TALK ****, TALK ****!

If a player can't hand this site which is online, Idk how they'd be able to handle college classes or playing college football. Lets not act like these 16-18 year olds are little babies that won't be able to handle some trash talking. This site is no different than any other fan site when it comes to negative posts. And right now there's very little negativity going on so I really don't get what you're talking about. And this site, especially the past year or so, has been by far the best source of information regarding Miami Hurricanes football.

If recruits visit this site they'll learn the expectations we have of Miami Hurricanes football and the family that is the U. They'll also quickly learn that if they want to play college football, they better have thick skin. If you can't handle this how are you going to handle other fanbases talking **** or playing a road game at FSU?

OP, if you think this is bad, don't go look on the SEC team's fan pages where they literally threaten to murder kids and their families. I can't remember the name of the kid, but one player chose Alabama over Auburn a few years back and the Auburn fan base actually tried to bankrupt his family's business. If that doesn't offend kids, but calling a kid "a JAG" does, I don't know what to tell you. Either the kid is mentally soft or the money they get at the SEC schools makes them apathetic to that stuff.

Good info.I think the negativity comes from the past 13 years or so of being terrible and not living up to what we the fans had become accustomed to in the win department. There is finally a light at the end of this tunnel and the recruits will come.Looking at it from a fans perspective is way different than looking at it from a parents perspective.Fans want wins at any cost.Fans have to remember that this is college football, not pro football.Kids are playing because they love the game.Patience needs to be exercised more by the fans and we need to realize that the kids are making decisions based on what they and their parents think is the best decision for their future. It's hard not to get frustrated when a highly ranked hometown kid wants to go somewhere else. With kids like Shaq,Steed. and other good players that are here who want to represent The U it won't be long before we are back and hopefully alot of the negativity will go away too.Parents and players would have to have pretty thick skin to read some comments on this board.

So, basically the 30 MODS on here need to do a better job of getting rid of the few clowns that seems to hijack a lot of the threads. Go Canes

That's not fair, and I'm sure as Hades not a Mod.

If UM fans demand a strict, by-the-script cheerleading board - you start it, and you lead it.

This is where fans can come to get good information, share comments, and of course you'll have to wade through the comments of some real dumbasses and outright semi-pro sphincters.

Maybe some of the more sensitive members would feel more comfortable on a cooking site, or male fashion site.

Don't go to a team fan site if you are recruit or parent. Fans are rabid dogs that will attack at any moment.

It is like this for any program that has a fan base passionate about winning.
