I'm not 100% sold on recruiting him. I'm not debating his talent level, that is why the coaching staff and knowledgeable football minds like Roman like the kid. I'm in from the talent perspective 100%. Miami will continue to recruit top tier QBs, what happens if the nephew doesn't win the job? is that a concern for the family? Would other QBs in 2021 and after be concerned that the QB job is tagged to Max Johnson and stay away from Miami? Would the rest of the team see Max as the coaches’ pet? Would the coaching staff be able to punish Max if needed, would they suspend him/kick him out if it comes to it? I also realize that his younger brother is a star in the making. Being older I remember Dennis Ericsson allowing his son to play for us, he was obviously not very good and a walk on at first, but I remember reading about several issues within the team. And also what happens if Max sees a player doing something wrong, or discussing a transfer, or just having a bad day and cursing at the coaches. Would Max over Thanksgiving dinner talk to his family? Would the other players trust him? That is why I respect Michael Johnson potentially leaving Oregon and creating his own path. I want this top QB and his brother a few years later to commit to us, but is it the right thing to do for us and the kid?
