Okay let’s look at the QBs who are actually available.

Matthew Sluka
Devin Brown
Dequan Finn
Jaylen Henderson

Really the only half decent Option is Finn who had G5 success at Toledo but did not really do anything at Baylor before injury. I’m not sure if he’s entering the draft but if these are our options im doing whatever I can to talk Cam Rising into returning to college for one season. He’s had serious injury concerns but when he’s healthy he’s definitely someone we can win games with.
This makes me vomit but we might need to go get Cade McNamara for now. At the very least he won’t make mistakes. Only guy I think would make sense for what we do.

We have gone hard after two guys that I know of. Both passed. And we didn't exactly offer chump change. I heard Mario has between $2-4mm/year to play with. The fact we cannot get a quarterback with that type of capital tells me the ACC suck tax is massive. The conference is killing us.

Cam Ward is likely going to be the #1 pick. That should have interested a lot of QBs. Maybe the problem isn't the ACC, it's that they saw UM had Cam Ward, an experienced WR Corps, an elite TE, RBs, and OL and didn't even make the ACC championship game with a cake schedule. Ward was able to put up a ton of stats against mediocre teams. Next year the schedule is brutal. A top QB would be looking at a team with an offense with a lot of question marks. Unproven WR corps, unproven TE, no Martinez at RB.

Cristobal can't coach his way out of wet paper bag. If we had a better HC, a QB might be willing to roll the dice. But with Cristobal, there is a good chance all that young talent on the roster will not get good coaching. I think QBs feel it is too much of a risk.

We have a heisman contender and top 5 pick at QB and we can't recruit any from the portal how. And we lose QBs to horrible 6-7 Oklahoma and Manny Diaz got a top QB but not us

Oklahoma's 6-7 season followed a 10-3 season. They hit bottom and went into desperation mode, basically giving Mateer anything he could want- including his OC and QB coach. We're on that same glide path, though I think 6 wins is optimistic next season. After hitting rock bottom in 2025, Miami will wildly overpay for a portal QB and we'll be looking at a 8-9 win season in 2026, and Cristobal will get a contract extension.

F that we need to do whatever we can now to stay in the 10 win and above range. Tired of the 6 or 7 win mediocre bull crap this staff and players should be ready to kill someone before they ever allow themselves to fall back to that mediocre level. Not literally of course

Miami looks like it will be a little better next year at defense (not if Guidry still running it, but maybe Cristobal makes a change). On offense, we are losing nearly all the experience- Restrepo, George, and Horton gone. Fletcher isn't Martinez. Arroyo gone. QB is what it is. We won 10 games this season with an all-time elite offense paired with a horrendous defense. Next season it looks like we will have an average offense and a mediocre defense (being merely mediocre which would be a MASSIVE improvement). What does average plus mediocre equal in terms of W/L?

Yea it looks that way now but in two weeks for example we could have a QB and another WR, it's hard to say we're gonna be bad on offense next season when we're still mid portal season plus have spring ball to play.
