Failing to capitalize on the Cam Ward experience and not securing a top quarterback from the portal again would be a fireable offense and likely a point of no return.

So far, no bueno.

First off, there hasn’t been one QB that’s entered the portal that could even hold Wards jock-strap. We couldn’t land Mateer, and the second rated portal QB wasn’t good enough in the eyes of a lot of people on this site. If you’re looking for the next Cam Ward, I’m sorry to say you won’t find him. Can we find a qb that with good weapons and an improved defense still win us 10+ games? Absolutely. I do think that player can be Emory, but I’d obviously rather one more veteran before we hand the keys off to Nickel in 2026
