You seem to love ignoring context. Of course they didn't start the true freshman over the returning starter that went 11-1 regular season the year before and lost the MNC in OT. And part of the situation to evaluate is the fan base and boosters, remember part of the reason for fields getting transfer without sitting a year? And of course, the hypotheticals - "what if xyz" well they were hurt, and now walk on is a legend in Georgia. It is what it is, it isn't what it might have been.
But but but, he is a defense guy, surely if you aren't giving him credit for QB decisions (reasonable), you aren't holding that against him when it goes the other way, like on the back of a medical determination for example?
