Take a guaranteed 2 mil from Miami and still be drafted next year, or take 200k guaranteed by entering the draft and being a mid-late round pick.

I don’t really think FSU is in play.
nobody has a clue what the offers are

FSU's NIL situation is worse off than ours but are we really naive to believe that we are offering 10x more? he wouldn't have visited FSU if that was the case

Of course. I’m speculating, but that’s all any of us can do right now.

I don’t think we are offering 10x more than FSU. The 2 mil from Miami vs 200k from the NFL was my comparison.

What if FSU paid him just to visit?
That and let’s be real: it’s not like he’s visiting some trash team. Despite being overrated, they did go undefeated and Norvell historically has gotten the most out of his college QBs, all the way back to OC days at AZ St and Memphis. Get paid plus you at least get to hear their pitch and party during graduation weekend? Sure sign me up.

But they won’t pay up to match us or exceed, they’ll just pivot to a safe DJ who costs considerably less (and subsequently has a much lower ceiling), and they’ll go back down to an 8 or 9 win team.

Then they’ll say DJ was the better “fit”, just like we’d say Howard was the better “fit” should we lose Ward to someone else.

Truth is, Ward is the best portal QB hands down imo, and the market dictates that. I have no problem with Miami waiting a few more days, just don’t get strung out for weeks without a backup.

Looking at Miami's 2024 schedule ... with upgraded OL / DL play and a decent QB and the other roster upgrades ... we SHOULD go 12-0. Toughest game on the schedule is FSU, followed by Louisville then Duke. We don't play Clemson or UNC. It really should be a 12-0 and then meet up with FSU or UNC in the ACCC Game.

Jesus christ. Let me spell it out for you.

I agree overall Cam Ward is likely to be a Cane.

We have not gotten any concrete reporting on the visits by either Cam Ward or Will Howard. Fluid situation. Miami taking its time. Mario has a plan.

All vague ****.

I'm not even counting our CIS insiders here because other than Cribby and DMoney, everyone has been wrong about the timeline of this recruitment. Cribby and DMoney are RIGHTLY not spilling many beans other than Cribby's "we don't need a quarterback anymore". No criticism of them.

All. Vague. ****.
:ohlord: And I don't think it's necessarily vague. I think they have been told to keep quiet.

Between Ward and Howard, I honestly don't know who is a better fit for the offense. Ward is the better passer, but Howard is a 6'5" 240 lb dual threat QB. All season we talked about how a DT QB is a cheat code in cfb.

We just saw FSU go undefeated with a QB who couldn't throw a football into the ocean for the first part his career, but his running ability (not as good as Howard's) gave defenses fits. But the #1 thing about Travis that made FSU 13-0 acc champs was what he didn't do - turn the ball over. Other than that he wasn't that exceptional.

So the determining factor to me isnt which of the QBs has a higher ceiling, it's which is going to better at limiting turnovers.

You take an efficient QB and pair him with an excellent D, excellent RBs, a top tier OL, and a solid WR corps, and you have automatically have a playoff team.

One thing that scares me about Ward is that Afpenny3 (who probably knows him better than anyone here) said that Ward needed to improve "between the ears."

can't wait to hear FSU fans the next 9 months tell us they turned away ward and got their first choice DJU
I wonder if they’ve already deleted all the **** they spoke on him when he was at Clemson. Probably not, they’re not that smart.
