Based on absolutely nothing, here's my read on it today - I think we end up with Howard. If he was going to commit to USC, he would have done it. Same logic goes for them as it does for us - you want to have a QB on board before ESD to help with recruiting. He hasn't announced USC, which leads me believe he's trying to get UM to up the bag. No problem with it, that's the game. Ward on the other hand, is stringing UM along. Keeps pushing back the date. Says he is considering NFL. I don't think Cristobal will wait til Xmas. Howard may be a better fit anyways so I don't think it's a downgrade. Now whether that moves the needle with Smith, that's a different question.

So this kid was going to be the starting quarterback at USC and he chose to enter the portal instead?

Wasn't Lincoln looking for another QB before he announced he was going in the portal? So the question is was that other QB being brought in to compete with him and one of them would provide some depth or was it b/c Riley doesn't have faith in him and he wasnt going to get a chance to start?

Korean War gonna end before coach gets a portal qb, innit
Well, it’s certainly past Bat Signal time. I’ll see you tomorrow!!

Based on what has been said on the USC board, they are the ones working on meeting Miami's offer....

I think Riley is actually overrated overall TBH... Specifically I think he is a poor HS evaluator, moderate developer but good coach (X and Os) if that makes sense... He was first QB coach and OC at OU early in 2015 and the HC in 17 or 18....

SO starting in 2015 his QB recruit was Connor McGinnis and Dalton Wood (Murray came in as a transfer later in 2015)
2016 Austin Kendall
2017 Chris Robison
2018 Tanner Mordecai
2019 Spencer Rattler (Transfer Jalen Hurts)
2020 - Chandler Morris
2021 - Caleb WIlliams
2022- Caleb Williams (Transfer)
2023 - Malachi Nelson
2024 - No HS QB Maybe Lagway now and def a transfer....

I mean looking at that list Baker (Jan '14) was on campus before he was hired at OU and his best QBs came in as transfer from other programs so 1. they were already a somewhat known product and 2. someone else convinced these cats to come in and yes Lincoln did coach his *** off and his route concepts were and are still insanely good and he gets credit for them showing out but I think that just goes to him as a coach, not an evaluator or true developer.

But with that look at the rest of his QB's? Same thing Hurts came in and had a very good year but again known product he just put in a better position than Bama. Caleb I actually think took a step back this year and while better than Rattler had kind of a similar trajectory. Very good, all this hype then just fizzles out. I mean with his track record why are QBs not lined up to play there? **** their QB room looks like ours right now and Mario is allegedly a QB killer and Riley is a QB savant.

I’d be happy with Howard. Hopefully this gets done soon.

I mean judging by his dad's comment, we could sign Patrick Mahomes and Smith would still sign with O$U tomorrow.

I think that comment was from October. Maybe I'm wrong about the timeline. I also see it as J. Smith telling everyone that UM has a sh#tload of money, which would be news to cfb world.

Maybe 🤔 Wario (Mario’s alter-ego duh) wants to let Jacurri try and convince him that he’s the Qb of the future and maybe just maybe he’s the one really waiting for the Bowl game result to pull the trigger.
