I understand the general thought amongst Canes fans regarding polls: win and it will take care of itself. But just on principle, it drives me nuts the love fsu gets since Bowden. I mean talk about benefit of the doubt. 12th???!!! They lost almost an entire staff. Lost a ton on defense, their best side last year. Have a guy as DC that never even game planned a game. Have a frosh at qb. Maybe one reliable WR? And here is a team picked to play on the acc ch. has the "top senior qb", a top 10 heisman hopefull, and what 7 guys on preseason watch lists but we are that much more of an uncertainty.

I'll give you that FSU is overhyped, but b/c we are picked to play in the ACC Championship and they are not is not a valid reason to complain. If we were in the same division as Clemson (or FSU for that matter), we would not be picked to play in the Championship. Whether right or not, the consensus seems to be that Miami is the 3rd best team in the ACC. Now is there really that big a difference between FSU and Miami that we are not ranked, that's a whole other question.

Re-read my post, pretty sure that "why fsu ranked and not us, and the differences between teams" is exactly what I was mentioning and what I wrote about no?

So a poll of coaches doesn't take those things into account? They have a complete unknown at QB...it's laughable really.
 
If there were no preseason polls, then folks on this site couldn't ***** about the fact that there are preseason polls, which is clearly what people love to do best. It seems to me that if we get rid of them, everybody loses.

It's what I expected, at least the BCS rankings don't come out until October so we have time to move up before they come out. FSU is an unknown with Winston at QB but I think unfortunately he will be an improvement for them and that will keep them up there with their weak schedule.
 
I'm fine with 27th. Win the first game easily and they will move us to top 25 for a matchup with Florida.

VaTech opens the season in Alabama. That game is going to be ugly. Bama is going to stomp them.

UNC opens in South Carolina

Georgia opens at Clemson

Here is a thing about FSU, they lost all but one starter from the front 7. They lost both Co-ordinators and tons of assistance, they also lost the SR QB and his replacing him with a FR. They are ranked that high purely off recruiting rankings
