PRACTICE THREAD - SUNDAY 8/24

What a stupid comment by Tim Reynolds. The QB is never , ever a supporting role!!! Congrats to Mr. kaaya

Must be tought for J.Hamilton to be on the scout team with all the freshmen.

He obviously earned his place on the scout team.

Pretty obvious Golden doesn't care whether you are a senior or a freshman.

The best players play and only the best make the travel squad.

Glad to see Kaaya won the job like i had hoped. The only thing i dont agree with is not reopening tje race for RW when he returns. Personally i think RW is our starter unless Kaaya is just playing unbelievable the first e games. But hopefully RW will be back soon to get some action in week 2 or 3.

You act like RW is a 5th year version of Vinny Testaverde.

Jake Heaps is more talented and has much more experience than Williams playing against tougher competition. It's not like RW was a future NFL draft pick and a sure fire stud.
I feel bad for RW but the reality is that he was the presumed starter because his competition was a guy we found out was stoned and another guy we switched to tight end.

In the end the most talented and prepared guy won the job, and will start every game for us the next 3-4 years.
With the weapons we have and our future recruiting classes, Kaaya is going to go down as the top statistical qb in UM history.

Completely shocked Golden pulled the trigger on this. From the things players have been saying about to the staff here, everything seemed to be playing in Kaaya's favor, but I could not see Golden starting a true freshman on the road in a game we pretty much need to win or the season could go down the ****ter quite quickly.

That being said, I'm markedly more excited about the upcoming season. There's going to be times where Kaaya struggles and the fans need to temper their expectations, but there's more upside about the position, no doubt.

Also, unless something drastic happens, Olsen will never play a down at UM. Though I didn't expect him to really be the guy once Fisch left and Coley took over, he blew it, plain and simple. Given his family's football background, it's remarkably dissapointing things turned out this way. He has nobody to blame but himself though.

LOL. No. The expectation is 10 regular season wins and the coastal title. There are no "tempered expectations" at Miami.

If we go in to Louisville and lose, that's squarely on Coley and Golden. So Kaaya had better not struggle.

Yeah, let's burn Kaaya's redshirt and create a QB controversy for a Memphis transfer who couldn't beat out a hobbled Stephen Morris last season.

I like Williams as a backup but Al would have nothing to gain by shoehorning him back into the lineup if Kaaya is performing adequately.

There is no way Al yanks Kaaya for Ryan Williams unless he is injured or playing at a Kirby Freeman level of suckage.

Whatever goodwill he has left with the fans will be gone at that moment.

I'm sure Ryan would have been a decent starter...but at the end of the day he couldn't beat out Morris, which in hindsight isn't a very good thing to have on your resume.

Only Kaaya completely falters, stick with the kid.

Anyone remember when we used to laugh at winning the BE? Now our expectations are to compete for a division. Sad

Right move by Al. The future of UM football starts 9/1. Experience in the wings to support Kaaya. Freshman will play here if they are mentally and physically prepared. Congrats Brad! Take notice 2015 and 2016 recruiting classes!

And we still in weak *** ACC. We can't help that but we should be lighting up people with the talent we recruit. The last 10 years has been straight coaching.

Great to see these two have continued to strengthen their bond. I see big things happening with these two in the future.

Yep...nice to see he also threw in a Pete-ism at the end, too

I will be fully erect if Kaaya is named the starter.

If its Heaps.....i'll just be praying for a W.

There's just no way Kaaya is the starter. No way. We all know Golden well enough to say that Heaps is going to be the starter. His style is more conservative to go with the guy with experience rather than the guy with upside in this situation. It's unfair to give the start to Kaaya because he isn't familiar with the speed of the game at the collegiate level and to have his first game on the road in a hostile environment on national TV is just cruel. They'll go with Heaps, but I think they're trying to reward Kaaya for coming in so well-prepared.

Ha, real easy to state an opinion after the decision's been made. This is the first time I can think of where he's made a decision this controversial and went with the true freshman.

Name me a single instance in Golden's tenure where he's "started an inferior upperclassman" to a younger player? I can't think of one, however, I can think of NUMEROUS instances where true freshman have gotten plenty of burn.
