Potential Portal OL

I absolutely appreciate it. Mirabal and Mario have done a good job here and getting quality players where needed in order to compete with the best of the best. The Oregon guys stunk, but Lee + Carpenter + Cohen did great work. Markell Bell, I have high hopes for next year. Can’t crown him yet - you see flashes at times, and other times it’s a wreck. But, there’s potential.

But at the same time, having to dip back into the portal in year 4 for multiple OL does raise some concerns about the class of 2023 guys we brought in (other than Francis of course).

They wouldn’t be pursuing multiple interior OL if they felt good about what they had in the room. I think you can see it from both sides of the coin.

Doesn’t matter to me as long as the outcome is a dominant OL. But in a perfect world, we would have hoped guys like Kinsler, Tinilau, Tripp, Samson etc. would have progressed further and pushed for starting roles.

Bell just seems slow off the ball sometimes and gets beat. I don’t know how coachable that is but I definitely think he has the athleticism.

Isn’t this the guy who we cut his visit short in HS when he was recruiting for another school? Or was it his friend that visited with him?

That was Madden Sanker, signed with Louisville.

This is another guy who has played zero snaps in college but we were his 1st portal offer and oh, he projects at Center. I know, shocking.

Figured out why we're offering so many OL and C prospects

There's a few schools who can't evaluate OL talent by themselves and are relying on using Miami to make the eval and send out offers and then they're jumping in to try to take them.

We want a Center and/or another Guard and even a Tackle for depth if it presents itself but we're offering them all so the certain schools have to make their own evaluations.

Florida/Florida State/Auburn/Ole Miss are on the suspect list. Definitely the first 2.

How many centers are we taking

Edit:

@JayCane20 just saw your post, is this him?
No that was Madden Sanker who went to Louisville.

Cline never got an actual offer but Mario/Highsmith sat him and his dad down at the BBQ and gave him a ton of praise and said we'll be watching the development but we just don't have a spot right now. He wanted to commit and be developed by Mario/Mirabal badly. Could have been a PWO and almost did but got the UCF offer.

Yep That was him!! Thanks! I think they were both on that same visit

Lol I honestly thought that's what they were doing for a sec the other day.

I know they thought FSU were trailing them on the hs offers to kids.

Makes sense they want a center cast a wide net n see how it falls..the rivals could cause your nil payment to go up following your offers n going higher

It’s great the coaches are always looking to upgrade the room. I see that as a positive. At least we know we will be putting the best we have on the field each year.

it doesn’t mean our current players are not good. It just appears M&M are always going to try and get the best online possible
