Potential Portal DB’s (CB’s & S’s only)

Literally don't think we could have hoped for a better haul than

- Charles Brantley
- Xavier Lucas
- Ethan O'Connor
- Zechariah Poyser

Plus add Karnley to that and that we already have OJ, Patterson, and Damari. And all but Brantley has multiple more years of eligibility....

Which is how a Miami DB room should look. What we've been able to attract the last several years was really subpar. Another recruiting "law" that Mario has vanquished.

All these kids have multiple years except Brantley that’s how clean up

Think lucas should be outside with oj, i rather try brantley at nickel than someone inexperienced at free safety.
brantley is a senior and was an excellent starting corner in the big 10.

lucas will be great and has all the upside, but I wouldn't get ahead of ourselves and pretend he's an elite college corner right now

Really appreciated D$ and Pete podcast updating Lucas situation. Only thing to be cautious about is repeated reference to what we’re seeing as a battle between the NCAA and the players. And somehow the NCAA and the players now need to reach a deal.

First, misconception is of the NCAA being a bunch of mean-spirited pencil heads in Indianapolis. The NCAA is the member institutions, the schools - Miami, Bama, USC, Texas, etc. The schools vote on the rules and NCAA staff simply enforces them.

The schools - college presidents and ADs - are obviously hoping Congress will toss a life preserver and help resolve the current mess. If not, it falls back on the universities - again, not an administer in Indy. Dealing with player compensation becomes a delicate dance because schools have adamantly opposed recognizing players as employees.

OT for this thread. But there are plenty of examples of associations that are captured by administrators representing their own interests over the interests of their constituents. I believe the NCAA to be exhibit A.

Not sure I agree with you specifically on Lucas v Brantley. Both could be starting across our back 4.5.

But you know what, I am so happy to be able to engage in this type of debate. We finally have some ******* competition among top level talent. People on here sometimes talk about Pancake being a bust because he's not starting. Without Samson, Kinsler or McCoy pushing them, do you think Rivers, Bell and Cici are as good? We finally have that at DE and now DB, as well. and I am loving it! ... Need to stack more at WR, DT, LB, RB, QB and TE while we're at it.

So, Miami, Wisconsin and other schools don’t establish the rules? Everything is voted on by reps of member institutions. NCAA president and Indy staff in theory answers to the schools. Amused by coaches complaining about specific rules being silly or draconian when their president or AD put them in place. Lazy scapegoating the “NCAA” when it’s really the schools.

got it so the schools allow particular school to be able to cheat brazenly.

And it was the "schools" coming down on us for infractions and not ncaa.

Well i always said f em all an i dont give a f about being in any "conference:" or appeasing any group ncaa include because we cant fix our public perception.
