He can't play next year, is he any good?

His minutes went down from 10.0 as a freshman to 7.7 as a sophomore.

this is now the official possible transfers thread

Two more names to watch for

Memphis C Tarik Black - http://t.co/gzbp3VFb2V - he will be eligible next season because he is graduating this semester

Texas SG Sheldon McClellan - averaged 13.5 PPG last season and was the team's 2nd leading scorer

I saw Diaz play in high school 2 years ago. He was very lean and long, looks like he's added good weight to his frame from the pictures I've seen. Has talent, but was very raw.

Well technically he can be developed the transfer year because he has to sit out. It may be good for his game to do this.

The guys that intrigue me would be:

Josh Davis-F Tulane
David Pellom-F George Washington
Lasan Kromah-G George Washington
Sheldon McClellan-G Texas

I would take both along with Josh Davis. If we take Black, that allows us to slowly bring in Jekri and keep developing him properly. Also, if we take Davis, that means that him and Kelly can play PF.

Black could put in 20 minutes and Jekri could get 20 minutes. Black averaged last season 21 MPG, 8.1 PPG and 4.8 RPG.

McClellan can sit out and get ready for 2014-2015.

If we get Henry too, he wouldn't be rushed into the lineup because Davis and Kelly are older and more mature.

With 4 open spots, I would love to bring in Davis, Black and McClellan and sign Henry if he wants in.

This enables us to spread out the kids instead of bringing in 3-4 freshman. Also 2 of the 3 transfers are eligible for next season. Also, I am not so excited about relying on Swoope and Akpajori for serious burn next season.

Agreed, A guy like McClellan would spread the classes out pretty nicely. He'd also be able to take a wing spot with Adams and Brown leaving after this year.

Davis and Black would give us 2 solid bigs for a year and give us a chance to hold over 2 scholarships for the 2014 class where we'll see more of the effects of the NCAA run.

Correct.

Also by bringing in Davis and Black (plus Kelly and Jekri) you can keep the production of the the bigs in tact. The risk is so low with these transfers (Davis and Black) because they are only on scholarship for 1 year.

I believe Jekri will be a darn good center for us but I am not sure if that will occur next year. I also don't know if he is ready for 15 MPG of burn since he only averaged about 7MPG last season and played over 15 minutes once.

I want Davis, but I also would be good with Tarrant from Tulane, though he can't play right away (regular transfer) and would be a R-Jr. when eligible. He reminds me of Malcolm Grant without the crazy ****. He has that mentality though, and is a better ballhandler.

Do we have a contingency plan if Larkin leaves??? No true PG on the roster or committed right now.

What would be great is if all these guys who left UM behind and now want in could talk to current recruits for both basketball and football and tell them how much of a mistake it was to not come here when they had the chance.
