Is this post based off of the scout article by Bakas. It was posted today. In it as well Bakas stated there is no known actual connection of this guy and the job. FYI

No idea what Backass is saying, but Carlos mentioned Lubedick about a week ago as a good candidate. Backass probably just read that and all the support we've given the idea and turned it into his own article.

Yep!!
Felt like saying something about this on Canestime.
But not worth the hassle.
Lazy work by Bakas.

We just need a coach that teaches very good fundamentals

A coach at Duke is a good idea especially given the fact that Duke's WR's are VERY productive even tho they are not gifted athletes like those at FSU or Miami.

They are taught to run good routes and secure the football before making a move. We need somebody to teach our horses fundamentals

I agree. If you are a fan of college fan as I am, you will see teams from the Big 12, Pac 12, WAC and other conferences that have very good passing attacks. Talent/measurables for a wide receiver are very important. However, there are plenty of guys that will help you get a W because they run crisp, consistent routes and catch the ball when it gets there. Teach a guy with talent the fundamentals and you're at a different level.

First, it's not a lateral move for him; it's an upgrade. Second, he's young (and iirc, single), so the upgrade in community is other world. I mean, Durham is like living in Yeehaw Junction compared to Miami. Third, the opportunity to coach better talent, on a bigger stage raises his ceiling for the next move. And fourth, the next step would be OC somewhere, and this guy has to know Fisch is not a lifer at OC for Miami.

As an aside, I would LOVE this pickup. Duke's receivers overachieved. Most of all, they looked very disciplined. And this guy can recruit. Would add a great personality to a staff full of them.

Agree 100%. Good stuff

Lubbick is making $230,000+ with Duke including bonus; nott sure he would get that here and cost of living is higher in Miami.

Sure, if his ultimate goal was to remain a receiver coach, but it clearly is not. You take the Miami job for less. Why? Because the Miami job offers you a faster track to much bigger money and many more options.

One argument I'll never get when it comes to recruits/coaches is the "Miami is so much of a better town than such and such."

You guys do know it's possible that some people just don't enjoy bigger cities/fast pace towns? I myself would choose Miami over Durham in a heart beat.. but there are people out there that would rather inflict self harm than live in a big city.

My brother (who was in his 20's) spent two years in LA and you couldn't pay him enough money to go back.

I don't want a coach out recruiting for me who would prefer to be young, single and in Durham over Miami. Let's put it that way. I get the whole different strokes stuff, but have you ever been to Durham? I have. It's not like we're comparing Raleigh to Miami.

It's about more than that. You get more bang for the buck elsewhere. Plenty of [good] coaches have made the same observation/statement. The one thing I will say is that, if the guy is a head coach or coordinator, you want the person who will use Miami as a launchpad instead of a place to settle into because it's great bang for the buck (value).

Raleigh and Durham aren't even 30 miles apart.

Another name I would find interesting would be Michael Haywood.

He has played and worked for some big-name coaches in Holtz, Saban, Mack Brown and Charlie Weis and was always known as a strong recruiter and did pretty good in his only stint as a HC at Miami (OH).
He also had some OC duties under Weis at NLame.

On the negative side, he lost his coaching job from domestic violence issues.

But someone in his situation may be looking at any opportunity to get his feet back in the
business.

Puke is a private institution. Where'd you find the salary figures for their WR corch? Seems odd that would be published anywhere.

Puke is notorious for not paying football corches let alone assistants. I think UM could easily match or exceed whatever Puke is paying Lubedick.

Another name I'm throwing out there is Richie Anderson.
He coached WRs in the NFL and was a teammate of Golden at Penn State.

Saw posted that he may be a candidate, thoughts on this guy?.

-Former Nfl Pro
-Coach WR at Cal this year
-Has years experience at wr position and has some OC experience.(Nfl Europe).
-Negative is he's a member of the Go Gatah fraternity alumni incorporated.

Old dude. Seems on the downside of his career. Don't know how enthusiastic he'd be as a recruiter.

Lubick or bust!
