Do we really need a backup OG?
Depth. If he can be a quality back up and push the starters, sign him up

Usually i'm on board with this, but we do have 15 scholarship olineman on roster. With the numbers we supposedly have coming in vs the number of graduates and departures we think we know about, i don't know if we can absorb another OL spot with the needs we still have elsewhere unless the kid is a potential starter....unless coaches expect more current olinemen to leave on their own this offseason.

As i mentioned before, who has actually seen him play? UT had zero depth this year at OL with all their injuries and this kid got passed over, so he quit. Is he worth a spot for 2 more years if we can use that spot on a DT or someone else next year?

We are still way under the 85 count so a grad transfer does little to affect the recruiting strategy. Even if they are here for 2 years.

Way under? I would disagree, unless other players are leaving.

Using the eligibility chart on here - 19 juniors, 20 sophomores, 25 freshmen = 64......minus Walton = 63

Even if you assume Mullins is gone and RJ and Norton leave, that's 60.

Incoming class has signed 19 + Nesta = 20. That puts you at 80. Add Chatfield, Campbell, another DT (Briggs/Carson/Someone) and another OT/WR (Gross, Ezzard, etc) and we're at 84.

So again, unless we see more guys leaving like a QB, OL, etc....."way under" seems to be a stretch. You do not want to short the scholie pool next year unless the transfer can play.....and by that, i mean start or be in the rotation by adding depth where depth doesn't exist (like DT).

If it's Boulware, he had offers from Georgia and Ohio St. amongst other schools; maybe there's talent there Searles can tap into.

Why are so many negative about Feagles...as a true freshman I think it did quite well and will improve. The kid has the leg and accuracy.

You don't know why people are negative toward Feagles? Games must not be in Braille.

Feagles was terrible, but the one mitigating factor is that everything about special teams was awful. It's embarrassing that a Miami team could not get even ONE return TD this year. The blocking was atrocious- obviously terrible on KR, but Feagles also got pressured too much (doesn't excuse the kicks though). From Berrios passively watching a GT player pick up an onside kick and return it for a TD to Feagles (repeated) shanks, it was a sh$tshow all the way around. Maybe Feagles could be a decent punter with a semi-competent special teams coach.

That "semi-competent special teams coach" just landed Brevin Jordan, Will Mallory and Bubba Baxa. Special Teams and Feagles will be fine. I saw on Twitter UM had an outside kicking coach watching practice. I'm sure he was there looking to help Feagles and his issues. #Simmer

Interesting...I never hear about college teams bringing in outside consultants anymore. I wonder if there are NCAA regulations about consultant coaches. It could be abused and a way around the limit on coaches.

Back many years ago, before most of you were born, we had a QB named George Mira, who became a Hurricane legend. (The REAL Matador).

During at least one, or several spring practices, Coach Andy Gustafson brought in the great pro QB Johnny Unitas to work with George.
