Position power rankings - CB

To be fair... I really wasn't impressed with Gunter... He maid a few plays against FSU but he was also suspect within that game and a lot during the season... I'm interested in seeing how Howard plays this year.... He was adjusting to the speed of the game last year, so I'm sure he'll improve much like B.Harris did, I hope his speed improved as well... We don't need a 4.2, just be adequate... But I also agree with one of the posters sentiments towards ranking these kids... We really only seen 2 play extensively, everyone else is a toss up...

In which games was Gunter "suspect"?

How was Gunter suspect against FSU? Giving up one catch to Benjamin and drawing multiple offensive pass interference calls?

I feel the same way about gunter. why is everybody overlooking crawford?? Kid is tough as nails and very fast!
Howard and Crwaford will be starters by the end of the year. Burns and Gunter will play a lot doe!

Crawford is a talent, just waiting to see if he get the technical part down.

Howard's instincts and quickness helps in the areas he lacks (speed)...but Howard isn't slow, just doesn't have elite speed.

Too be fair those he wasn't drawing anything... Gunter was tripping over his feet for most of the game with the exception of two plays... I haven't been impressed... He didn't impressed me against UVA when Terrel was killing it, he didn't impress me against NCstate, he didn't impress me aganst duke when all 3 wideouts had their way with our secondary, and I felt his production against FSU was overrated... I saw two penalties against Benjamin and Rodney where the guy tripped over himself because he was shook out of his draws.... I need to see more from him... He isn't the best corner to me... Howard did as much as I expected from a underdeveloped(physically) freshman but he showed signs towards the end and Crawford played well in his spurts... I definitely want to see more of Crawford...

Keep in mind Gunter was a sophomore last year. Still room for improvement.

No I'm not saying he's garbage... I'm just saying I wasn't impressed with his performance... As of right now, I don't understand the fanfare... However, I do agree with you that he has time to improve...

I actually rewatched the Virginia game last week. Terrell either found space in the zone or beat Finnie man to man that game. I think you're just taking games that Miami's secondary did poorly and assuming Gunter did badly.

A lot of the trouble Miami had in coverage was from safeties being out of position or "uninstinctive" (Highsmith and Kacy) and our linebackers being poor at their drops and man coverage.

I think our corners were one of the strengths of the defense last year.

I'm not sure if you would call it fan fair, but Gunter was undoubtedly our 2nd best CB last year as a soph, thus the number one ranking that I and some others have.
