Porter?????

He has definitely shown flashes during his limited PT, I hope he makes it back some time this year, we need him

The problem is there's no reason to believe he will be healthy in his 6th year either. Something always happens, and his reaction/recovery for injuries is 10 times worse than anyone else's. At some point in time you have to accept the fact that he isn't going to be what we want him to be.

Forget the play 10 years in the NFL stuff. This is the type of kid lately that will be a perennial all pro and anchor a line once he leaves.

He'll suddenly become healthy when 7 figure checks are being waved in his face. Another prototypical Shannon recruit.

I think he needs one more yr of UTough. I cant help but think of Shayon Green. The staff has figured out how to get him healthy and he is okay. He could have been much better had he actually gained experience in the last few years, but he has been hurt. I think Porter can do the same. I think he will come back the yr in the next couple of weeks and the staff will figure his health out next yr and he will be solid. I cant say how good he will be as we have never really seen him play but I think he can at the very least contribute. Would love to see him get some burn this week, like ten snaps just to feel like he might be back full go next week. Is the injury report out for this week yet? When is the last time AG has been asked about him?

That's a pretty unfair assessment of the guy. To attack him and act as if he is just being weak completely ignores the fact that the bulk of his missed playing time comes from the medical staff not clearing him to play. It wasn't Porter just saying he didn't feel ready. The finger infection he had last year was very severe, and there was talk of him possibly losing the finger. He did not have clearance to play by the medical staff. The appendix issue this year isn't Porter saying he doesn't want to play, he's not medically cleared to play. Attack a kid for being lazy, for not giving it all in practice, and so on. Don't attack a kid for a string of medical issues that he has little control over.

He would help down the road, so it'd be nice if they could somehow get him on the field even for 5 plays this week just to get his motor running and so that we can be sure he's available for ND.

He's draft eligible now. You really think he WANTS to be an undrafted free agent? I get that the guy's been injured a lot and all but let's not go overboard. I doubt that a guy who probably can't do much other than play football is really interested in riding pine at this point.
