Portal QB Wishlist

Cam Ward should be #1 option and the usual suspects all have QB's for next year: OSU, Bama, UGA, Texas, LSU, TAMU, Tennesse, OU.

Seems like the $$ spenders for looking for a QB is Auburn, Oregon, maybe ND? and I would venture to say FSU is going to look in the portal for a QB.

Going to have to beat those 4 teams out for him.

LSU need a a QB and would be my guess that’s where Ward ends up.

You better get on the Nuss Bus or its leaving the station. Nuss was promised the QB job next year in exchange for not transferring last year. So no, I would be more worried about Oregon than the others tho.

Just purely based on statistics, potential targets at transfer QB:

NameSchoolTD / TD%INT / INT%Rushing TD / AttemptsAdjusted Yards/AttemptQB RatingCurrent Record
Kadion SalterLiberty28 / 12.17%5 / 2.17%11 / 12811.9183.811-0

Joey AguilarApp St29 / 8.22%8 / 2.27%2 / 669.1156.87-4
Jayden MaiavaUNLV13 / 4.98%6 / 2.3%3 / 599.1153.09-2
Chandler RogersNorth Texas26 / 7.07%4 / 1.09%4 / 989.0152.24-7
Cam WardWSU22 / 5.03%5 / 1.14%8 / 1098.3146.85-6
Seth HeniganMemphis24 / 5.81%8 / 1.94%4 / 868.2148.38-3

Based purely off these statistics, I'd say Salter is by far #1, and it's not even close. After him it's probably Chandler Rogers. Pratt still likely has the highest Floor.
Chandler Rogers has been @ 4 colleges already. I’m not clear on if his transfer eligibility cause of grad transfer, but it’d be crazy to play for 5 different colleges.

Well he was juco then went to Southern Miss where he redshirted.
He actually played 21 and 22 at LMU as FR and So.
RS Jr year is this year for him and he played North Texas.

Don't think it'd be crazy for him to grad transfer.
But again literally all I did was look at who had best stats basically from G5 players basically... Not saying any of those guys WILL transfer.

I would take the Holy cross kid. We don’t need a game changer in our Offense. Just don’t turn over the ball and be able to make a play or 2.

I would also take Spencer Petras to “battle” and secure a game manager backup who won’t lose us games.

I also wouldn’t hate Cade Klubnick.

My thoughts exactly on tactics…take a starter AND a Jake Heaps / Ryan Williams type out of the portal. I don’t know who the #1 guy is but Shough came to mind for me as the second portal dude if we could get him.

Shough is going to get a chance to be QB1 somewhere. Petras probably not.

Rumors Cade is leaving?

Cam Ward. ****. Put that guy behind Mirabal's o-line and he would take us to the promise land. WAZZU was 40th in total offense but an absolutely crap show for a rushing offense and pass protection. WAZZU allowed 3 sacks per game compared to 1.2 for Miami. WAZZU's passing offense was 4th in the nation. Bring that **** here.

Dream scenario here. Dante Moore in the portal and he starts next year. We bring in Bailey as a project QB and Smith comes alone with him and his other teammates. One can dream…

It's very very obvious than majority of you haven't watched a single snap of Dante Moore this season...

CIS: "TVD ruined our season, no more bad QB's!.."

*Bad QB enter the portal

CIS: "Let's bring him here!"

He has tools but didn't respond well to pressure in his first start.

People on here are quick to crown and even quicker to throw under the bus. Kid was 18 year old true freshman and had an okay season before injury and it’s “**** it he’s an unredeemable bust”

He would have been our highest ranked QB recruit ever.

yea, I think QB play was so disappointing this season with Tyler that our fanbase is overly sensitive about improving the position; especially considering what it could mean for the overall success of the program in year 3 of a rebuild. Someone with Dante's season may seem 'risky' compared to a transfer QB with more experience that may be fully baked with one year of remaining eligibility.

I think Dante can be better next season than he and TVD were this season. That said, would be nice if Ken Dorsey wanted to work with college QBs.

I didn't say he was an unreseemable bust.

But it cannot be denied he struggled immensely against P5 schools. So, if Miami were to bring him in we'd have 3 unproven QB's who are complete & total question marks.

Maybe Miami isn't in a win now situation next year, maybe another 6-6/7-5 season is perfectly okay. But if not, bringing in a kid who struggled with accuracy & didn't handle pressure very well doesn't sound like the best idea for Miami moving forward.

And HS rankings are absolutely meaningless once they're in College. There's a Mountain Hill of 5-star QB's who never panned out, so regardless of what his rankings were that certainly didn't help him against Oregon ST, Utah & Wash ST.
