Pop tart bowl vs Iowa State

If he ends up not playing that would be the final kick in the nuts of the season.

Until something is officially released by either he or the university I'm cautiously optimistic...

Stressed Episode 19 GIF by The Simpsons

Who, Cam? I'll be at the game, if he tries to play I'll run on the field and tackle him. Keep him the **** away from this game. He's done more than enough here. Go get paid.

Full disclosure, rational thinking will prevail, and he's not playing. He'll make a big deal about how much he wants to (and I genuinely believe he does), but this is business. It's time to get paid and go to the next level.

He has no reason to sit. Go play man. Guys used to play in bowl games and it wasn’t even a thought of no injury or sitting. Shít is just crazy. I think he will play especially with shueder playing in Colorado bowl game

He has about 35 million reasons to sit.

I understand your bravado. Football players play football. I get it. But this is the reality of today. There is simply far too much money on the line to risk playing in this game.

Drake Maye was the #3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. I think it's very reasonable to expect Cam to go in the Top 3. Maye signed a four-year, $36.63 million contract with the Patriots, every single dollar guaranteed. Cam Ward has ONE job between today and April, and if he completes this job, he makes $36M: Don't get hurt. That's it.

I want him to play. He wants to play.

He will not play.

Restrepo already said he's not playing. Again, you're thinking far too emotionally as a fan. This is business to these kids. I'm not saying they don't care about their school or their teammates. Most do. But it's to an extent. At the end of the day, this is a business. Cameron Ward is a business. It's VERY bad business to go play football in a completely meaningless game when all you gotta do is get through the combine in one piece and you have $30+ million waiting for you.

We will see what happens. But I doubt he would put it out there and not do it

tbh, i dont think cam ends up playing when its all said and done. just not worth the risk and this is a good opportunity to see what you have in emory vs portal QB. i do think emory transfers if we get a Portal QB to start and it would be a waste to not see him in a meaningless game where he can run the full offense.

Quick question: Do you believe Cam should play in that Sr bowl he’s invited to? I don’t because I believe he’s already solidified top 3 QB selection…so really nothing is going to upgrade that.

This is a much better question than the Pop Tarts Bowl. I really don't have a great answer. Do I think he *should* play? Absolutely not. Do I think he will? I'm not sure. Are you able to go and practice and then not play in the game? I think that'd be his best bet.

I think Cam has locked himself up as a Top 5 pick. If that's the case, why do anything to risk that? I would think he's going to pass on the bowl game and the Senior Bowl. The only reason I think he might play in the Senior Bowl is that game is a glorified scrimmage, and is much more of a "pre-combine" for the players. He can really cement his stock there, were he to choose to do so. I just don't think, if you feel you're a Top 5 player, you go to Mobile. Jayden Daniels skipped it last year.

But you'd have been more than happy to see him playing one, two or three more games if we'd made the CFPs? How is that different in terms of risking injury and loss of money?

bc thats actually a game that means something. this does not. any game out of the playoffs is meaningless in bowl season

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly. It’s a catch-22 with the Sr Bowl cos all the scouts and NFL personnel will be around but what will they see from Cam that they’ve not already seen.

Now I will say I HATE him leaving on a losing note. Selfishly I wish he played in bowl game but I understand the business decision part.

Insurance?

These guys have it I am sure. NIL and Portal…sitting out bowl games.

At least we can remember bowl games when they were special. East vs West.

True. But what if he did get a career-threatening injury in a CFP playoff game? How'd he feel then? The loss of money issue is the same.
