Typical troglodyte behavior. When you are unable to formulate an adequate response, resort to calling people trolls.

Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that there was a meeting at Donna's office, first with the CAS Dean and the Provost, then Lecturer Schmitt joining the CAS Dean and LeBlanc in the office (Heels cooled sufficiently), then joined by AD James and maybe AG for a few minutes. I can understand the defense of Schmitt here on some points, but here is where he erred:

- Golden may be the football coach, but he has a Pre-Law BA from PSU and a sports psych Masters from UVA; one school rated near Miami and one a top-rated Public ahead of Miami. Schmitt went to top LAC Amherst, but his Masters is from Iowa. Would Lecturer Schmitt publicly criticize another faculty member in print if they had degrees from Golden's schools along with a progression level (Masters) similar to Schmitt's? Schmitt can't say Golden is academically unqualified...Heck Coach L DOES teach a class, last I heard. If Schmitt is truthfull, he would answer "No."

- One thing most everyone hasn't mentioned is Schmitt's pejoritive comment about "Academically Unmotivated Athletes." This will probably get him in the most trouble, since there are "academically unmotivated non-athletes" also. That is part of HIS job as a teacher, to motivate his students. Saying something like that about UM students, no matter their intercollegiate athlete status, is a BIG NO, NO.

- Al will explain the context of his comments and Lecturer Schmitt will show new understanding of the challenges of student athletes. They will let this die, unless the Herald tries to make something of it, then Schmitt will pen an "epithany" letter to the editor to "clarify" himself.

This. Its easier to call someone a troll, than to respond intelligently, par for the course here at CIS.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Golden's players have one of the highest GPA and graduation rates in CFB? Shame on that Professor for purposely not connecting the dots to get the big picture. Obviously he quoted AG out of context.

Last time I checked, he's the football coach. Now, if the English teacher's first priority was football, we'd have a problem. If Golden didn't care about academics, we'd have a problem. He does care about them, deeply. What he said was taken and twisted to make it sound as if he doesn't care about work in the classroom. It's just not true. Again, had he said something like, "We'd be a lot better if my football players didn't have to attend classes. I wish the professors would just let them cheat so they didn't have to work there." Yeah, that would be a story. This, on the other hand, is NOT.
Look, I can only go by what the man said, and he made it pretty darn clear that football is his top priority
You think Al is dumb, he knows how much of a priority APR scores and education are to Donna, now way he would publicly come out and say that.

It seems like the chair is finally heating up, and Al is pulling out all the stops to win at all costs. This isnt what Miami football is about.

You think Al is dumb? Obviously you do because the guy wouldn't have meant it in the context you and Peter (DeRealPinga) are insinuating. You and Whooping should hand in your Cane cards for defending this guy, either directly or indirectly.

Meet me in W24 and try to take my Cane Card, bro

The guy in W24 with Justin Bieber diaper pants, got it!
