Whoever's the better QB.

I HOPE that's Kaaya because he's more talented and that could set us up for a monster 2-3 year run, but there's no substitute for experience.

I voted Kaaya But its probably going to be Heaps. My hope is that Kaaya get some run this year. Throw him in and let him hand it off a few times and run a conservative drive or 2 at Louisville, garbage time in other games. Last thing i want at this point is a Kaaya redshirt. Getting him meaningful reps helps solidify a backup this year and gets him experience for next year, best of both worlds

I don't care one bit who starts, just pick the guy who gives us the better shot at winning.

Is this any different then the Brown's going with Hoyer? Pettine said of Hoyer. "We've maintained all along that if it was close, I would prefer to go with the more experienced player." What makes this any different?

Oh idk the fact that the better, supremely talented player sits on the bench for no reason other than the guy ahead of him as more starts under his belt. And in this case, the vast majority of those starts were incredibly mediocre.

Whoever wins us games. For those of you saying Heaps can't do it you're full of ****. Same token, for those of you saying Kaaya is too young and he can't do it the **** is equally full to the brim. None of us know a **** thing...so stop openly rooting against either of these guys. Whoever is the best QB should and will start.

How about another choice that reads something like:

The QB who has demonstrated the most poise, the best ability to read defenses, the best ability to execute our offense, but keep him on a short leash subject to immediate substitution when and if he ends up overwhelmed or incapable on this day.

Buck Ortega graduated.

Want Kaaya to get some reps. No need to RS him, that'll leave us with 0 QB's next year with experience.

Obviously I want the guy that gives us the best chance to win. In my humble opinion that is Brad Kaaya. No I haven't had the privilege of attending practice but I feel in my gut that Brad won this competition straight up fair and sqaure. I also think he is much more capable of making a play. Now I'm not saying that starting Heaps for game 1 on the road at Louisville under the lights is necessarily a bad move. Heaps is after all a 5th year senior with 30 starts under his belt who will no doubt be asked to draw on his experience to protect the football, manage the game and let our playmakers do their thing. Granted this sounds like a very sound and logical approach that few will second guess him on.

This however is the very thing that troubles me about Golden. He strikes me as a guy that is always going to make the safe choice no matter what. I get the feeling that if Kaaya had(for the sake of argument) outplayed Heaps by a solid margin and everyone on the team just knew that Brad was the guy that Golden would still start Heaps. What I'm trying to say is that I feel Goldens biggest weakness is that he is too afraid of losing to ever be a big winner. This fatalistic mentality then proceeds to metastasize throughout the locker room resulting in underachieving campaign after underachieving campaign.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Golden basher although I will criticize when it is merited. I am also very excited and optimistic about this team and where we are seemingly headed. It's just that in the back of my mind it was this particular aspect of Golden's psychology that has always concerned me as the most significant potential roadblock to what this program could otherwise achieve and the issue of naming a starting quarterback finally gave me an opportunity to illustrate and articulate my concern. Sorry for going off on a tangent.
