Ice Cube- Turn off the RadioWhat’s the song at the beginning
Yall sounded a little shook on this one. Playing Mahalia Jackson as the outro. WTH goin on?
I hope so. He's a problem in multiple ways. That "Xavier Thomas" talk is all BS coach speak. No way they put that kid out there. Sounds good to tell the media as it could give Manny and Blake something to scheme for but that kid wont see the field in this game. Maybe WAY later in the year. Covid is too much of a hot topic right now to risk it and Dabo in August was talking like this kid got the worst strain you could possibly get. Plus lets be frank here, they could beat us and everyone else on their schedule without him.
That said, great podcast and great listen. You almost had me there with Loose Ends sample. I was about to fall out of my chair thinking it was the original song! lol.
Let's ride then.....I feel great. Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King.
Real talk. My gut feeling is telling me Clemson should be worried.I feel great. Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King.
Great pod as always. Only thing I disagree with was ‘17’s Dline is far superior to our current version. That DL lived in the backfield and had a million TFLs.
Attack Nolan, attack #47 and the young guys on the edges. Use WRs as decoys to open space up for a Brev, Mallory and our backs
I like our DEs better this year and think Nesta can be a better college player than McIntosh and Norton. The ‘17 duo was probably better as a whole.
This is a nice opportunity for JHH to make some plays on the national stage.
Agree.Chad, Trent and JJ combined for 36 TFLs and 22 sacks and were close to dominant as a unit in ‘17. I love what we have but the depth isn’t close to ‘17’s as of now. I also think RJ was close to dominant toward the end of his junior year. I don’t see that consistently from Nesta at all. RJ lived in the backfield against ND who’s line was loaded. What could’ve been if he stayed and paired with Willis.
I’ve been critical of Nesta because he hasn’t been dominant vs a good team. Hopefully he shows out this weekend. I’d love to be wrong.
@DMoney ive been saying all week more Frierson and smith together. This isn’t the week to have Jennings in space with entienne.
Agree.
These dl isn’t he’s fit as good as the 17 dl. Ford has been average , nesta has improved , hunte is coming he’s just young but the interior has been far from dominant.
You think Baker has enough sense to do this?@DMoney ive been saying all week more Frierson and smith together. This isn’t the week to have Jennings in space with entienne.
We can argue back and forth on which DL was better. They both were/are good enough to beat this year's Clemson OL. That's the important point. And while we give up some mass on the DEs, we do have guys that can get to the QB even more quickly in Phillips and Roche.
Personally, I think the effectiveness of our DL in this game depends entirely on what Lu said he wants to see -- CBs pressing. If we contest the underneath stuff and make Lawrence take a half second longer on his RPO decisions and progressions, we have a real shot at putting some pressure on him.
Of course, that means we may get burnt deep. But our safeties have the athletic ability to cover in space, especially when Hall comes back in.
