A really interesting name on your list is Fernando Mendoza. With what we could surround him with he may be a guy who elevates his game here. He doesn't have nearly the type of natural born freakish talent that Cam Ward has but he is a very fundamentally sound QB who plays within his ability and doesn't try to do too much. He could be great here or he could be average. Then again there's really no need for a kid like Mendoza when we already have Emory Williams. I'd much rather stick with Emory than to get Mendoza.

Hard pass on Behren Morton, I watch all TT games because my son is there in college. Morton misses too many easy passes…he seems to run hot then cold. He’s an OK QB but we can do better imo

Miami is going to be active in the portal, mostly because you should always have a QB battle going, unless you are certain you have THE guy. I like Emory, from his limited snaps this year, you can see legit improvement. That said, I don't think it's appropriate to hand him the job without some pressure in camp. It's likely Miami won't find another Cam Ward(UF having a late run means Lagway is likely not leaving), but there are some legit QBs out there that Miami can land, that will be able to compete with Emory. Let there be a camp battle and may the best man win. Competition leads to positive outcomes.
 
Lagway is the dude if he is listening in the back channels… sell him in the Oline, skill position players and being able to be showcased like ward.

Mateer intrigues me he is like a lesser ward

Kid at North Texas?

Weigman from A&M wouldn’t be bad on a cheap flyer promising only an opportunity and playing with an Oline and talent

There is no other cam ward. There isn’t an elite qb out there on a bad or mid tier team. Whoever they Bri g in will have flaws and a great portion of the fan base is going to complain

This fanbase is complaining about 9-1 with a Heisman Trophy candidate at QB, so it's safe to say that they will complain about anything. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty about this team to criticize, but you'd think this team was 4-5 with the way people are behaving.

That's a good problem to have - albeit I doubt Dawson would leave whilst the Playoffs were ongoing.

Your problem is that it would take 6 weeks to hire a new OC.

I hope Mario is planning on Dawson leaving, and has already put someone on that project. Have your OC short list ready, if you end up not having to need to use it, great. But Mario has to understand that the "Wait 2 months to make a hire" thing can't happen this time, if it comes to that.
Honestly, I'd also suggest Mario look to upgrade at DC. I don't think Wilcox at Cal survives, if he gets fired, Mario needs to make him a big boy offer.

Lagway ain’t leaving the Gaytor now that Slingblade is staying and they just beat LSU. They will get a bowl game

Yep, he's EVERYONE'S #1 target, the issue is it's unlikely he explores the portal. Why would he at this point? The coach he committed to is getting at least one more season, he's the surefire starter and he's going to be taken care of at UF.

If Lagway enters the portal, you do whatever needs to be done. That said, it's unlikely, so you have to plan accordingly.
