PODCAST: Adapt or Die ft. ESPN's Steve Kim and D$

Its alot of ppl on here that wanted manny as the HC now trying to act like they never wanted him smh
I never wanted him and still don't. We could have a coach in the NW who is building a program that will be in the playoff within the next 3 years. Because of the BS Blake did to him we will never have a shot at him again. Btw he is coming after some of our commits and they are listening and 1 may be taking a trip out there soon.

Gotta give props where it’s due, this is one of the best podcasts I’ve heard on here; very informative and even historical. I believe we as a fan base are getting closer to where we should be. This is a slightly above average team with a tiny margin for error and needs a lot of bounces to go our way for a “great season”.

Manny really did too good of a job in the off season. If we objectively looked at this team, players and COACHES, we would have tempered our expectations. But thanks D for being real but still holding on to some positivity. I don’t know what you did differently to prepare for this podcast but I really felt like I was listening to a football guy not just a fan and I believe that’s who you really are.

Be your true self bruh, people can resonate with the authentic you; not that you need mine or anyone else’s approval, but how you curate your platform will determine your return. Respect
Trying to temper expectations now in order to keep the peace around the program is disingenuous. This team was good enough before the season to win the Coastal. Still is.

To be in a death struggle with a horrible cmu, lose to awful downtrodden VT and lose to **** *** UNC is garbage. It’s not a situation where we are only slightly more talented than those teams and need a break or two to beat them.

Anyone adjusting expectations now has an agenda. The legit expectations were 10 and the Coastal.

He was co-DC forever with Mike Stoops at OU, and a lot of people just assumed Stoops was running the D, as his brother was HC.

Venables was clearly open to going somewhere to be the man, and Dabo reeled him in. I don’t know how that’s luck.

Ok maybe that is accurate. Either way, when you get the #1 DC in the country to come to your team that virtually had not won anything in 30+ years and was a virtual doormat to FSU for decades in the ACC, a little luck is involved. Venables could have gone anywhere he wanted.

That said, I don't really give a ****. I'm not caping for Clemson like we get something out of them being the big dog in college football right now. What is our team going to do to fix our **** show is the topic at hand here. And if Diaz finds a way to crawl himself out of this mess, he needs to fire both coordinators and find some new ones. I don't care how he does it. Even if luck is involved.

Now I will agree with you here. This season is an utter failure 5 games in because we virtually have little to no shot at the Coastal. All Diaz can do is salvage whats left by at least going 8-4, maybe.

Well I don’t have an “agenda” but I am willing to admit where I was wrong. I thought the D would be better, not as good as last year but better than it is now. I thought JW was the best QB long term and I thought that last year; But he didn’t get any game experience and to be honest, he doesn’t have the same type of dog in him as Kosi. I knew the OL was atrocious but I hoped Enos could scheme around it. I thought the experience of the coaching staff would equate to more than being green, but I was wrong.

Even with all of our inadequacies we still had an opportunity to win every game... every game. But the thing that’s most overlooked, the thing that really hurts us the most, the thing that we write off as forbidden to challenge... is the fkn refs.

I’ve seen Miami get cheated on for years, calls and no calls; but this year takes the cake. I would really rather go to the AAC or Independent and play a **** schedule rather than attempt to beat an ACC team and the refs. If Manny can’t find a way to influence ($) the refs, then we need to GTFO of the conference.

And please, for the love of God and all things Miami, please stop betting on UM games. Vegas controls the refs and always sets up games to make bread off of emotional gamblers (which is totally different from knowledgeable betters). Save your money and don’t ever bet on a Miami game, they’re counting on it.

The coastal and a ten win season was handed to him on a silver platter and he tripped all over himself with his and his staffs ****** coaching. This was a layup and he didn’t even hit the rim.

The Notre Dame game is not indicative of the normal defensive performance. As another poster said, Miami would have beat Alabama that night. That one game was an aberration where the stadium was bonkers and Notre Dame was rattled by the fans.
That was Miami for one night only, lol. Hmm... I don't think you're right though. I think it was more of a culmination of the defense. That same year the defense was great most of the year, statistically ranking high in various metrics. I give Manny credit, because imo the D really only had 3 or 4 great players. The real indictment of Manny wasnt the scheme or coaching of players, but the recruiting you'd expect to see. I'm not necessarily talking about 5*s, but at the end of that season he should have a full class of high end 4*s, and talented 3*s filling every single position, no gaps.

Thats not luck, Clemson had a problem and cut a huge check for one of the best DC at the time to solve it. They invested in their program. First they got Chad Morris, one of the hottest OC to install his version of the spread (when it was still on rise) and that bought an exciting brand of football, then after they got blown out in orange bowl they bought in best DC their money could get at time. You combine that investment on both sides of ball.

Maybe you consider it "luck" that they hit both times that they went and invested money and got best proven on market commodities compared to our bad "luck" of going after coordinators of fired head corches to continue what is going on? Miami is cheap and has thought they didnt need to invest in program because they are entitled to local talent without giving top quality resources to be developed properly.

Notre Dame was good though and our D manhandled them. Manny could have been considered a great DC if he closed on more elite talent. His defensive scheme could win a title with elite DL play, Elite 2ndary and elite LBs. Bottom line, you dont recruit with that exciting defensive play, youre not ready.
True
There is alot of great coaches in college that we will never hear of because they cant bring in the talent. U have to be able to recruit in college or u are fuqed...especially at a program that is historic.

It would be one thing if we were losing with our best kids on the field.....our eyes are not deceiving us folks, our best players don’t play the most. We’re losing these games by a few plays here or there out of an entire football game. What if Rousseau had played 25 more snaps each game. You think he could have made a game changing/deciding play in those extra snaps? 🤔

Even more concerning is how the "dependable" players who garner more time are the ones freelancing (Quarterman, Pinckney), committing penalties (Patchan), ballooning out of shape (Donaldson), fumbling (Harley), dropping passes (Harley). And they face no repercussion. Zero accountability. All talk. No action. Up to now at least.

You’re 100 right no accountability at all. And the more I look our play at safety I believe D. Smith beat Carter out for that job.

Seems everyone sees it the same way. We all agree on the issues. We know the coaching staff is a joke. Its the administration that fcks us.

Not to beat a dead horse but take a look at Jennifer Strawley's twitter feed. Her last tweet about football was acknowledging the win over BCU. Besides that the only time she's tweeted anything football related was retweeting **** about Murphy. She posts more about women's tennis, basketball, volleyball and soccer than any men's sport, much less football.

We know Blake James is ra-tard, but this woman's priority is clearly women's sports and only women's sports. There's no hope with them in place.

All because Strawley's got a bigger Johnson than Blake - is it any wonder she's "into" women - and women's sports?

1. I wanted Manny as head coach. He wasn’t my first choice (Or my second; I think Jim Leonhard is going to be a great HC one day - the same that was said about Manny); I thought Babers was a natural for Miami, but whatever…
2. I love the “Marketing” Manny has done to let the country know Miami will be relevant again.
3. I think the Turnover Chain is genius and that the Touchdown rings need to be bigger - much bigger. Boxing gloves-sized.
4. A lot of the rewards and new school “psychological coaching” he does, is on display at LSU, UVA and Clemson - but with different on-field results.
5. As bad as Miami has played, and especially on defense, 2019 Miami would beat 2018 Miami on the field in a hypothetical matchup.

Disappointing as this season has been, Miami has been marginally better, and that’s with an OL that nobody thought could get worse. It has been considerably worse. I’m surprised at the defense, but not really; I was hoping for better DL play to not leave the DBs isolated but Baker has the secondary talking to Wilson like Tom Hanks.

im actually surprised some of you are disappointed because I read for the last 10 months how this team would be some version of 7-6, 8-5, 9-4… or would just win 10 games. Posters/fans like myself should be most disappointed. I hoped this was a 12-0 team. Stupid based upon the results, but we were right about how CLOSE THIS TEAM COULD BE. And, they’re close because 95% of the posters here would agree that this team COULD BE 5-0 … with the right coaching/schemes. Which means this isn’t a bad team; Miami isnt Rutgers.

I was petrified at what I was watching during the UF and UNC games and it became more and more scary through the UVA game because I’ve seen this before; it doesn’t get better. But it does and it can and Manny has to let go of his ego for the change to happen (there’s a certain team that Miami destroyed in 2017 and the respective teams fortunes have reversed since that night).

First step was sticking his nose into the defense, the second step was letting his OC know that HE makes the final decision on who starts at QB (hopefully that extends to his OL and DL coaches). Now, he needs to take charge of the sideline! Stop looking like he has no idea what to do now that the bullets are flying and START LOOKING LIKE HE DID WHEN HE RNA THE DEFENSE FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS. Engaged. Enthusiastic. Urgent (which happens to be one of his favorite words).

I think Manny can turn this around, or maybe it’s just my Cane hope talking, but I’m not giving up on this team because the one thing that they’ve shown through the missed assignments, poor tackling, and penalties … is fight.

And, all the “fans/posters“ well, I think it was the great philospher Redwine who said …

" I think Manny can turn this crap around. " WOW! What have you been toking?

The bottom line is this for the Diaz contingent around South Florida and the rest of the nation. The diminutive Manny has ONE GAME to possibly turn this cesspool of a team into a respectable disciplined, sweet lemon-smelling team. Because IF Miami doesn't find some way to win on Friday night. Then baby, TURN OUT THE LIGHTS, BECAUSE THE PARTY IS OVER for your boy! And probably the season. Yikes!

In other words, I seriously doubt the team will recover PSYCHOLOGICALLY speaking if the UNWANTED happens on Friday night. Also, dig this Diaz LOYALISTS, lap poodles and apologists. Miami will be " TWO-FOUR ", and the last time Miami started out 2- 4 was the PROBATION season of 1997. OUCH. And what was the final record of Miami back in 1997? Right. You got that one, Jack.

So stay tuned Manny defenders and hope for the best for your boy. Also, y'all may SERIOUSLY want to get down on your knees and ask for a little help and luck from your PERSONAL deity. dUh Because that's how BAD it is in Thee Gables these day.

Nevertheless, I still believe Miami has a " fighter's punch " of knocking out mighty Virginia.
