Please no Sonny Odogwu..............

beast monster. looks much different after a year of prep than he did as a HS SR. If this kid has any athletic ability/good feet, he can be a monster. I didnt want him in the class before, but after seeing this picture, I'm in. He looks nothing like Symonette (who always looked like the Michelin Man). He is 6-8 300+ of pure muscle

what happened to him

It looks he lost the sonny in his life

thats what military school does to you. All sunshine has been eradicated from his life. Hes angry and ready to smash fools

He's letting his anger fuel his football. Bring this kid in ASAP, let him learn the position and see what he turns into in a couple years.

Please Golden...don't do it!

The odds of this kid being good are so stacked against us. Why take the chance with limited ships?

Delmar Taylor, Ian Symontte, Junior Alexis....etc.

Just stay the course and continue to grind out the real prospects.
I know it is a message board and all......but common, you don't know better than the man who is being paid to do it.

He should be commiting very soon to some school, hopefully its to UM.

Peter do you know where UM stands with him at this point after his OV this weekend.

Go Canes

Don't know what his height is exactly, but is it entirely out of the realm of possibility that this kid gets a shot at DT? I have no background on him, so I'm just asking.

I'll trust the guy who is paid to do this.

I like Golden's eye for talent, but that's a dangerous game to be playing there. That line used to get floated out about Coker and Shannon.

Anyway, film of Sonny here

wish we could find some Hargrave film after he put on about 70 lbs. Would like to see how he's moving around in Hulk-mode rather than him as a 17 yr old Kevin Garnett

Based on the year over year physical maturity of this prospect you have to wonder what he is going to look and play like in 2 years. I think the staff would be thrilled if they could reel Sonny in. I would take the risk all day and every day to find a potential franchise LT to anchor my line. Kid has potential to be a beast in the trenches.

I can understand the reservations with all the failed reaches of prior regimes. We have had our share of kids who look like tarzan and play like Jane. However when I look at a kid like Kerr getting a ship and compare him to Sonny I just think the risk/reward upside is just too big too pass on, even with a limited number of ships.

if we sign Sandland, I certainly wouldn't mind letting ourselves get "outrecruited" by FSU for Kerr and bring in Odogwu instead. Looks to have a much higher ceiling than Kerr

in film loks like he is playing midgets. guess that is what 6 9 does? also lacks explosion , I dont know just looks big. what do I know that why I am in construction

Yeah, I don't see much blubber on that guy. He could be the world's greatest steal, or a bust. I think you take a flyer on him. Recruiting is always a crap shoot, especially OL. Passes the eyeball test.

It would be nice to see some Hargrave video, since he would be playing against better competition. He would also have another year of probably better coaching. It's hard to tell from this video, since you can't see him close up and it's hard to get a good look at his technique, flexibility, etc.

A friend who used to spend a lot of time helping in the recruiting office at UM over a number of years said that there are very few recruits who come in who are really sure things anyway. That includes a lot who are not sure things but who have come in highly touted. In other words, being a big name recruit is no guarantee. I say, if we have a spot, maybe we take a chance. He's no sure thing, but is very intriguing and might have a huge upside. I never was a big Kehoe fan either, but the best lines we have had over the last three decades probably were during Kehoe's period. He's probably as good as any other OL coach we have had. I don't know that Bryant McKinnie wasn't something of a project when we got him from juco. We got him from a juco that was not particularly known as one of the big football factories among jucos, either. He was not a big deal coming out of HS.
