then why aren't we portal recruiting those schools and conferences? instead of gambling on a HS kid that may go pro, get a kid in D2 that wants more exposure throwing gas.

It used to be nearly unheard of to go straight D2 to D1 because it was automatic sit out a year vs moving down a level and playing right away. Just a trend that hasn’t started yet but will.

It’s also Risky for them to enter the portal. I’ve seen it happen a few times but rare. A lot of it is from summer leagues and coaches from other schools telling them to transfer and then other examples the guys prove it as a freshman at D2, then go juco, and then go D1 or get drafted and sign. Rare to see a straight D2 to D1 transfer.
