And I don't think Kerr will move to the line. I rather see him play his position as he brings another dimension to that position at TE.
If he isnt an OT in the making, then he is a wasted June offer. You dont need to offer blocking TEs in June when you will have a smorgasbord of slowfooted, nonathletic 6'5 240lb types who would likely cream their pants at a Cane offer in January and promptly decommit from Tulane, East Carolina, and Duke to come here. The only way a Kerr offer as a TE makes sense is if we are already planning to let go of White, Perry, and Dye.
Did the coaches tell you it was a waste or is this just speculation on your part?
Just using my brain. Kerr aint a Winslow type difference maker - he's a complementary player, a blocker who might catch a safety valve pass or two. You don't need to offer these guys in June - 4 receptions per year TEs are a dime a dozen in the prep ranks. lol.
However, what we do need to do is stockpile OL right quick. Our 2014 OT depth chart is Bunche, Flowers, and Gadbois. That's it. So unless we are planning to neglect this position until the very last minute and scrounge around for OTs in 2014 and throw them right in the fire without even one year in the program, we need OTs now. If Kerr has the potential to turn into an Eric Winston/Jason Fox type, then yes, by all means get this kid onboard ASAP.
