Phil Steele 2012 Pre Season All-ACC Team

Like i said lets not act like Ray Ray hasn't done anything here he was 2nd team all acc as a soph with 80 tackles and 3 int. He was preseason 1st team all-acc before the shapiro story and was suspened 6 games this year 4 for shapiro 2 for Golden. Last year was a wash imo kid will have a great sr year and be picked in the 2nd round of the NFL draft next year...
 
Phil is usually pretty good but some of these are really questionable.

Example: Perryman will be one of the better LB's in the ACC this year...no way he's 4th team.

UNC seems to have some talented players left from the Butch era though.

I hope he doesn't know any more about fornicating than he does about the 'Canes.

This surprised me only because I've always found Steele's pre-season stuff to be pretty dead on. Moreso than Lindy's, Sporting News, and the like. Agree with all the criticism leveled in this thread, particularly about Perryman. I mean he can't be serious.

Perryman can be a great LB but if the guys in front of you aren't keeping you clean it's hard going to be hard for him. Plus from outside view looking in Perryman hasn't done anything that makes them feel he needs to be listed higher than 4th team while making the move to a new position.

Ray Ray does get too much **** from the fans, but some of that he brought onto himself with things like the chicken dinner tweet. I think he'll improve this year now that he should know where to be in the defense. He's a guy who can make an impact at safety but his lack of speed becomes an issue when trying to man up on WRs. And it becomes more glaring when the other safety also has the same major weakness.

Ray Ray's problem is pass coverage... He was never a ball hawk and most ppl compared him to Sean Taylor. I still think he's an above average safety. I like his attitude but he just has to put in more work...

Ray Ray continues to ride to the top on no accomplishments and a single hit on national TV.

Dude is going to live charmed life. He should stay in cruise control, kick back and let the gold rain down on him.
 
He has no choice but to cruise. He is, right now anyway, a below average d1 safety.
 
I think he can be above average this year.

Taking angles is about technique and everybody on this forum knows that. He must want to get better at his position or else he will continue to be mediocre.

We actually watch every game and rewatch them

Just because he has a platform doesnt mean he knows anything more than any poster on this board

I think he is a good tackler, in a vacuum. He's made some beautiful tackles and he has good form. Other parts of his game which you've pinpointed make him look worse as a tackler than he is IMO.
