Peyton Matocha signs with Miami

I gotta say, I really like this kid after watching his highlights. I know, highlights are highlights, everybody looks good in theirs. But idc. And also idc what level that competition was, b/c the things he showed the ability to do...his touch, vision, ball placement, accuracy throwing on the run, athleticism...the tools are there to be a player. The way I felt about stealing Williams late in the cycle last year...I feel about as good about getting this kid.

6'4...........4.62 forty........6'8 high jumper.......athlete!
That's great and all, but can he actually throw the football accurately. Seems like it's been forever since we had a QB who could do that.

“Coach Enos is really excited about me, said I have a lot of potential, upside,” Matocha said. “He’s one of the most prestigious quarterback coaches in the country, so that’s exciting.

“Coach Enos, he’s obviously a quarterback whisperer. What he did with Alabama this past year was really incredible."

At 6-4, 190 pounds and with 4.62 speed in the 40, Matocha is a mobile QB. He enjoyed a strong senior season with 3,697 yards, 35 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions - he added over 700 rush yards with 14 more scores. He’s started since his freshman year but flew under the radar with many major programs.

"Peyton, I always call him a hybrid, a dual threat and a pro-style quarterback because he can really do either," St. Thomas High coach Rich McGuire said. "He’s 6-4 so he can sit in the pocket and throw if you want him to but he’s also a super dynamic athlete who runs 4.62 and can high jump 6-8. ... Probably his most redeeming factor is he’s the most competitive kid I’ve ever met in my life. He just wants to compete at everything and doesn’t like to lose.”
