As of 2006 (the last record I have in print from Omar Kelly), we did NOT use the sliding scale for recruits eligibility, opting for a hard line SAT number. Coker acknowledge this as fact, and obviously these standards must dramatically impact recruiting.

It's hard enough to get a kid here when we have a half full stadium that sucks, we blow on the field, and we don't buy grandma a house. But when you tell a kid who can go to LSU "hey retake the SAT a few more times for us", it becomes a legitimate obstacle.

So, do we or do we not use the NCAA sliding scale that every national title winner of the last decade has used???

Not Pete/DMoney/Tito and really can't give accurate answer to this question. But it is very obvious when we see players playing for other teams that could not get in here that admissions here are tougher then at many other schools. If we can't recruit with the same rules it's hard to be more then a average 6 win team, unless you play cupcakes like we did this year.

The thought process behind it is ridiculous if you think about it. (Well the thought process besides the one that takes more pride in being in the APR Top 5 than the AP top 5.) "Well we can't risk signing a kid who can really play but might not stay eligible because we'd have to play his JAG back-up. Instead we'll let the kid who can ball go elsewhere and just sign the JAG back-up to play the entire season."

So is Duke. Both Standford and Duke would clean the floor with this team.

We may not have the lowest standards, but our standards for athletes are still incredibly low. Much lower than a Notre Dame (played for MNC last year) or Stanford or several other schools. And before the "We need to be Bama not Standford" group chimes in, i said lower than not equal to. This year also proved that it can actually be easier to get into Miami than an SEC school (Sandland). In most cases, if a kid does not meet the grade/test score requirements to get into Miami, they're probably at Marshall, Juco or prep. If you see them at another school, it's probably an issue with them not having the proper credits.

The issue is losing "Miami" kids, that people get angry when they leave and dominate for another team. Stanford and Duke do a good job of developing their players, but most aren't playing until their 3rd year. We haven't had that luxury yet. There have been a lot of young guys playing because of reduced scholarships and players that are lacking talent.

This year we should have in our back 7 mostly upperclassmen that are more talented than the previous group.

Howard Jr
Gunter Sr
Crawford Jr
Bush Jr
Jenkins Jr
Kirby Jr
Perryman (maybe) Sr

There will be no excuses that these guys aren't doing a much better job of recognizing and communicating in the passing game.

Stanford is really struggling with this too

Until they start winning n sending multiple hof and 1st round picks to the nfl than n only then u can use this argument. When ur a hometown kid n fsu recruits u n says u dont have 2 do all that **** um is telling u to do, 9 out of 10 times u take the better deal. Secondly when Stanford Duke n Notre Dame becomer super dominant Ill shut up n revisit this. U can all clown Luke but hes right n knows alot more about HS football kids not getting into UM because hes directly involved. Would love 2 hear from wildcat because hes also involved.

People always bring up Stanford. Sorry but we can't compete with them and are a lot more in lines with FSU education wise. Don't bring me all the BS rankings either. If your an elite athlete and want an elite education you are choosing Stanford every time. We are competing with the FSUs and SEC schools for kids and not Stanford.

The logic of not using the sliding scale is ridiculous. 90% of the players wouldn't get into UM if they didn't play football. So why draw an arbitrary line in the sand and put us at a competitive disadvantage? Either make them have the same entrance requirements as a regular student, or use the sliding scale that everyone else uses

No offense but you have to be dumb as rocks not to get the minimum to get in, with or without the sliding scale. Saying that it's still unfair we can't get some of these kids. Miami Dade Public School System needs to help us.

Is it some badge of honor for fans to have higher admission standards? Give me an equal playing field with the rest of the country.

It has less to do with academics than it does with being a underachieving and poorly run program for the better part of the decade. Good players don't want to lose.

And yet they commit to us anyway, only to decommit when they don't have the test scores and five other elite programs say it doesn't matter.

And then they go to FSU and win them a title.

this is where Luke and ICE and other so called inner city hero's should start a program for not just athletes but all kids looking at college futures...tutors, self test, act sat work shops... but its easier to go on the radio and cry racism

they don't de commit bc they don't have the scores or grades. the guys that committed to us and didnt get in, ended up at marshall and west va not FSU and others.

How many do you think we lose a year to academics?
