He says he's basing that on a website he read - "my dad's the one that showed it to me, I'm not sure if it was a coach posting it but it probably was a fan," Smith said.

He says he then spoke with UM coaches, who tried to clear things up.

Bruh he is a plan b, if he tried to commit he'd be denied. He had his chance and took to long to pull the trigger.

You're right we should permaban derrick smith and his dad for not knowing how recruiting works when you're a 3 star. Commit early or get left behind. Or play games like your boy Shavar and go to juco.
 
The issue is the reason we all gravitate to the board is because Pete supposedly has connections pertaining to recruiting. These connections are obviously linked to the coaches and in many times, historically, have been proven correct. Therefore when the recruit looks to what is perceived as an 'insider' linked to the coaches who is right the majority of the time, the coaches come off as liars.

His dad as an adult should know better than to stir up this drama. Just as his son has a plan B school in mind if his plan A school says no thanks, it is a two way street with Schools having plan B tier recruits.

This is Miami not UCF or USF so yes I applaud him for keeping an eye on his son's recruitment but he should also keep an eye whom his son is competing against for spots in the particular schools he is seriously considering. An if he did this then he would see he is up against some elite players for a very limited spots and use it as motivation to raise his profile. So rather than airing your grievances to the media you should keep between you and coaches.

Pete is good, but I stay here because of the beatings taken and given by posters. Plus some people here actually know them some football and the political discussion cannot be topped.
 
Personally, if the kid can't handle hearing he is a plan B then he shouldn't come here.

As far as I remember, the Miami kids we want are the kids that read some **** like that and ball out during the season to shut us all up.

I'd rather lose a kid that can't handle hearing what he doesn't want to hear.
 
Sounds like Ferman is desperate to get his dwindling subscribers back.

He is the most desperate hack out there. Everyone should now this now after making stuff up during the coaching searches.

I agree with what most have said so far. But going to the thread Vern posted, many there agreed that this kid is fast, with range. Manny Diaz defense needs this to succeed. As thin as we are at s/lb and especially s/lb with range, I am surprised this kid is not plan A-, even if only for depth and competition. But I guess Manny knows what he wants. I hope.
 
The only advice I would give the young man and his father is go wherever you can and want to the most. It doesn't matter what some tards say on a message board, in particular when they don't know where our coaches have whatever recruit on our board.
