It's necessary to contact as many recruits and commits as possible to get their reactions on this unprecedented move to clear the potential sanction issues so that recruits and future players can move forward with less concern.

In reality, it's about more than their reactions. This is a communication effort.

That would be AWESOME if they could get some reactions!!!! Awesome site guys and great work all around!!!

The bowl ban should be a positive for recruits. It means whatever penalties get imposed during their time here will be less severe. Hopefully the NCAA takes into account the fact that we didn't just give up the toilet bowl, we gave up a possible ACCCG and Orange Bowl berth.

However, now the negative recruiting will probably say "If they've taken two bowl bans before the NCAA has even showed them their findings, they must know they're in really deep ****."

Here is the response from Pete, at least in my mind.

2014 DL Chad Thomas on Golden and the bowl ban- "Cool *** coach. Gotta read up on it more."

This move is good for this class, but even better for 2014 since those guys can be almost sure that they won't have to face a bowl ban while here. I know Sony has said he doesn't want to miss any bowls, so I'd think this is good for him.

IMO putting out to the media that Miami is self-imposing a 2nd bowl ban is going to have a negative effect on recruits.... now there is this cloud of uncertainty about whether Miami is going to get raped or not.

If Miami didn't self-impose recruits probably would've had some doubts still but the perception would be Miami has the NCAA investigation behind them and moving forward in a positive direction.

This is contrary to everything that has been said by players, coaches (privately and otherwise), and recruits. Thanks for the opinion. Remember, no trolling this area.

Lu, I dont know zone and whether he is trolling or not, but there are a lot of Miami fans out there that still seem to be under the delusion that we are only going to get a slap on the wrist, so by enacting a 2nd bowl game ban, that seems to be flying in the face of that rationale. I am sure, however, there will still be fans that think 'we skate' and that everything Shapiro said was lies and that Miami is just overreacting.

In the ESPN article, Golden also said he's taking possible scholarship sanctions into account in his offers. So if he's holding out offers to Grace, Thomas, et al., they can be confident he's not over-signing, but truly wants them on the roster. This has to be the primary reason recent offer announcements have been so few and far between.

@Lucane: I don't "troll"?????

@Shogungts: W/ me it's not about whether or not Shapiro lied or not, it's about whether the NCAA is going to rape us regardless of the 2 bowl bans.... i don't know what they are going to do, that's why i'm not sure about any decision we make.

So i just made another point to be mindful of..... if the NCAA rapes us anyway, recruits that wanted us to take a bowl ban are still going to commit elsewhere.

really?

If the NCAA rapes us and hits us with a 4 year ban like Penn State then we are screwed regardless of when he take those bowl bans. I would say doing 2 now is still better than sitting out 4 starting next year. Odds are Miami wont be hit with 4. I always felt we would get 2. If that happens then I would rather potentially take a better team next year bowling than possibly going to a bowl game with this yound team and finishing the year at 7-7 after the inevitable thrashing at the hands of FSU in the ACCCG and SEC school we face in the Chick Fi A bowl.
