pretty telling that you can only point to two games where you question his decision making ... guidry is legit and will only improve at the talent improves

There wasn't a need for an adjustment per se. We had made certain alignment concessions in order to stop the run. USF stretches the defense as wide as possible then uses motion to gain easy leverage in the passing game. Add the break neck pace and you have an offense that is incredibly difficult to stop.

You can't just assume that everything that is given up is a flaw that needs adjustment. Sometimes we have to pick our poison too. The only adjustment that was necessary with the slot coverage was Daryl Porter tightening up a bit. He played Atkins a bit passively at first but corrected that in the second half. You have to understand that Atkins was motioning across the formation then getting into his routes. Add the pace they play at and it's not difficult to see why anyone would struggle in that situation. That's a long way to run around for any CB.

Halftime at Louisville? You mean that game where we went against a potent offensive team with most of our DL missing or banged up? I'm afraid the bottom just fell out that game after battling the last 3 games.

With UNC we were going against a QB Maye who was a top 3 pick in the draft plus a big fast physical WR going against a secondary consisting of slow CBs and safeties who were constantly freelancing. That's a really bad combination. Sometimes the other team is just better.

Lance Guidry is the best DC we have had here since Sonny Lubbick.

Not his fault Kam was playing hero ball out there. Also, the DL depth was already stretched at that point.
If you listen to his presser, he knew 38 was gonna get his but eventually would wear down which is exactly what happened.

Randy was top tier during his glory days here. Let me know when Guidry produces a defense that would have the team at 8-4 with 0 offense.

i was sure to add the "game has passed him up" quote ... plus randy is a straight system guy ... 4-3 all day ... don't remember him using a star/striker position ... guidry really won me over as you look back at last year, he totally switch our front based on our personnel ... not sure randy can do that or that his approach can guard modern day offenses

Go on Locked on Canes comment section when Guidry got hired. You can find some of the Charlie Strong fans in the comment section. They were actually not happy that Strong got passed up. I just read 4 of the comments and theres more

Stop bro. We are talking about CIS not some random Youtube video's comments. The fact is, no one from this site wanted Charlie Strong as our DC. Go find that video and make your comment there, not here.
