Yes, they can only offer him an on field coaching position. Doesn't stop them from offering something off the books though, like say a high school HC position where a big chunk of his salary is paid under the table by LSU boosters.

He told that to 247 earlier in the day then when he went to the FIU camp he got interviewed and asked what schools he likes and who'll get visits he didn't mention us at all.
 
I don't think LSU has to offer Pat, Sr. a job to sign Pat, Jr. Pat, Jr. has loved LSU his entire life. If he goes somewhere else, someone did an incredible recruiting job.

In addition to that, Pat could have moved his family to Louisiana (to be closer to his mom and family) any time he wanted to do so, and he never did it, so I would be stunned if Pat took a job in Louisiana and moved his family there.

If he cares about being near his kid he could continue living and coaching here and merely persuade a little kid to attend UM. Doesn't have to move to Louisiana to do that.
