Over/Under on Logan Thomas?

Dude will perform at a heisman level vs our D and lead at least 3 70 yards + drives.

UM fans who think Thomas is a bum will be in for a rude awakening. If we don't get consistent pressure in his face and allow him to scramble through wide open lanes like we did with Winston, we will be in for a LONG night. He's a very good QB when you let him set his feet and get in a rhythm.

Our defense was horrific last season, and that wasn't enough for LT to swing the game. Although we still are not elite this year. we are good enough to keep this clown from beating us. Just need Morris to not beat us as well, and we should be good.

I am expecting Morris to throw two picks against them. If he can hold it to two picks with none of them run back for TDs, I think we can still win this game.

I'm with you. Just need him to get those 2 NFL passes for TD's before he goes Bipolar.

Agreed. If we win the toss, defer and kick the **** ball.

Maybe LT shats the bed early and we get good field positioning.

This, at least. They'll run him into the ground, not only because they'll want to keep LOLogan Thomas from difficult throws, but because they don't have anything dynamic at RB.

Of course, now we don't either.

Just discussing VT with my post.Anything dynamic, they don't have anything. Logan Thomas has to run the ball because their talent pool is pretty bad.

Here is their lead rusher: Trey Edmunds (freshman)

125 Carries for 447 Yards and 5 TDs (season averages 14 for 50 yards, 3.6 YPC and .55 TDs)

Here is performance against ACC play

47 Carries for 95 Yards and 2 TDs (9 for 19, 2.0 YPC and .4 TDs)

Vt had 400 yards of offense last year and moved the ball well, they just had two turnovers deep in Miami territory. We also could've easily lost to Unc and wake in previous weeks,so let's stop acting like they're inferior to us.

We are capable of losing to anyone and making average qb's look good, expect a four quarter battle.

We also could've easily lost to Unc and wake, so let's stop acting like they're inferior to us. We are capable of losing to anyone and making average qb's look good, expect a four quarter battle.

A few things:

1. The two turnovers. Here they are...

The first interception: Logan Thomas pass intercepted by Ladarius Gunter at the MiaFl 11, returned for 15 yards to the MiaFl 26. This occurred. So instead, what happens? Instead we will say they get a FG, VT is up 3-0.

The fumble: Logan Thomas rush for a loss of 2 yards, fumbled, recovered by MiaFl Luther Robinson at the MiaFl 3. This was deep in our territory but instead let's say he gets tackled for loss. They kick and hit a FG, the score is 20-15 (instead 20-12)

We now gave them 6 fake points. We didn't score off either turnover, we didn't exactly do much with either turnover. We win 30-18. Even though turnovers are part of the game, we now give them 6 fake points.

2. You left out the biggest and most important stat: They had 12 total points. Our D played pretty good last year given the following (from our offense):

1-12 on 3rd Down, 347 Total Yards and VT had the ball 34:21 (opposed to our 25:39).

What is this obession with yards? 400 yards = ZERO points. You don't get 1 point for every 40 yards. Big deal. VT just held Duke to under 200 total yards and lost 13-10. Yards don't guarantee jack s.hit.

3. They are inferior to us but that doesn't mean the game won't be difficult. This is especially true if we play down to our opponent. WF and UNC are also inferior to us, that doesn't mean we will win by a lot. When we throw INTs (4 against UNC) or are unable to get help from our QB (Morris had like 190 yards passing against WF) we will be in for a difficult game because our offense isn't helping much.

Games are not played on paper. Being inferior doesn't guarantee anything. So we could lose, sure. Our biggest weapon is gone, last year he had 100 yards on 11 carries and a 1 TD against VT. But this year our defense is better.

Big game, no doubt.

He'll keep a few drives alive but won't beat us with his legs. Probably around 60 yards.

The better over/under is how many INTs he will throw.

I think we'll do ok against Thomas. Their passing game is hurting because their receivers have been putrid and they have no running game. I'm more concerned with any hang over from this past Saturday, how our QB will play, and what our running game will look like against their D. In either case, I think this will be a close game.

This. This is going to be a very tough game. We better bring the heat to force him into poor decision.

I think he is a bum, but a bum can still light a team up if we don't get in his face. VT let's up 1.78 sacks per game. Bama was only able to sack him once and that was in the 4th quarter.

I do agree we need to get pressure, I watched that BC game too and BC was hitting him well (without a few DL) and had 4 sacks. We need to get in his grill and hit him hard.

You'll see what a bum he is if we continue to have such a spotty pass rush.

He's not going to beat us. Their defense will beat us if they beat us. But if we don't get pressure on him consistently then he will extend drives and make it that much tougher for our offense against their great defense.

I've watched 4 or 5 of his games this year, and he's been very good at times when he gets to set his feet. If he has clear throwing lanes and no pass rush he's actually very accurate. All of his problems come when the opponent gets a rush on him. Remember that he doesn't have to be Joe Montana with that defense.

How dynamic was UNC's running game coming into our meeting? How dynamic was Wake?

We're struggling pretty badly on defense right now. Expect a knock down drag out Pier 6 brawl.

They both sucked and they both did little against us on the ground.

Wake Forest 59 rushing yards against us. UNC had 105 yards on 36 carries against us.

I know the D is hurting but against UNC and WF our rush D was good.
I would gladly take either of those performances from VT.

Right but this is a guy who has lost games all by himself. That Duke game was terrible, he played like crud and the kicker was the only reason he didn't have the blame squarely on his shoulders. This D can't win all by themselves, they need some help and that was the Duke game. Their D is special this year but they need some help from LT.

I think LT has looked good at times but if he can't set his feet (like you said) he looks like he is throwing with his wrong hand.

If we play like we did against Winston were they literally pulled a Morris and took the ball out of his hands and relied solely on the run game to beat us. Vt dosent have near their run game and I think we pull it off
