Over/under 2.5 touchdowns for Artie Burns

I always think this is pretty funny every year. It happens with new recruits as well as in the NFL with the NFL Draft. Somehow, miraculously, all these new guys can come in and just dominate their positions. Artie is a great athlete and seems to have a lot of talent but I'm not so sure he's just going to make the ACC his **** this year. Not many freshman can come in and dominate, which is why it's so special when they actually do it. Duke had the greatest freshman year in school history! Things like that are rare for a reason. Can it happen? Sure, but just be more realistic with your expectations of the rookies.

coming in and learning your position, defensive schemes and understanding how to read offenses is a lot for a freshman, but returning a kick is natural and doesn't take a lot of seasoning. I think he can have a big impact in the return game and thats not unrealistic

Like Tracy Howard was going to be the number #1 CB as a freshman. . .

Preston Dewey was going to be the next ty detmer at MIAMI. . .

I feel for Kevin Olsen. . .

This is valid and I agree. I also do realize that some positions are harder to learn than others. This was more of a reaction to the general premise that freshman are going to kill it when they come in. Returning kicks can be a place for freshman to shine, all I'm saying is in general fans get way to hyped and confident in a rookie's ability to contribute big.

Well, dream big or go home....Artie scorches big yards every game on returns we go Hester in our comparisons, and Edwards goes Highsmith so much so that we nearly stop talking about this other back named Duke, while gushing how our OL is the best in CFB history - how's that!

Seeing both Duke and Amari Cooper do it (and I am sure several others) last year makes it more reasonable that a superior athlete can impact somewhere like the kicking game. Especially with the way Flowers played on the o-line, which is much harder to pick up than a spot like receiver or returner. The trend seems to be to play younger players sooner (and not just at UM where we have had to do it because of lack of depth). I don't expect every player to come in and dominate, but I certainly expect a handful to make significant contributions regardless of the depth chart.

F it I'm in... OVER! I'll say 3

Yes I know it's ridiculous but I don't care lol

If bush, who is nearly not as talented as Burns started and stared on defense.. Burns will most def see the field and way shape or form. Burns is lighting in a bottle. Dorsett should never be on any return unit and I can see Burns take his spot quickly. Dude has ELITE skills and is one the fastest players in the country. He may not have 2 or 3 return TDs, but he is going to play early and often.

I think we only had 3 total non-offensive TDs last year. Correct me if I'm wrong: Perryman Pick 6 vs BC, Duke KO return vs Bethune and Duke KO return vs Virginia. We had Doresett's PR taken away by a penalty and no other defensive touchdowns IIRC. If Artie can house 3 non-offensive TD, he would officially perform better than our entire team in 2012, which included Duke on kick offs. I hope it happens, but I'm taking the under lol

As usual...with many fans, unreasonable thoughts creep in with regards to our new recruits. The reality that theyre 18 yr olds and 99% of them take time to develop gets tossed out the window, and this consequently creates unfair expectations on our youngsters. When they fail to meet your lofty fantasy stats you kids get all upset and label them as busts.

And it has begun.

I took the under so....

Watch the short bit on him In canefreaks recruiting video. His stride and separation are crazy. I don't think two is being ridiculous. One against a terrible team and maybe crack out another one somewhere else. Very excited about this kid

I think either he or Duke will house one against Savannah State & the other cupcake we play. Both of those games I think we'll get to see some of the younger guys get some burn and have some fun.

lame spread going under 2.5 would be like - 490

id tease it down to 0.5 and take the under

why do i feel like im taking crazy pills over here.
as much as i like burns- i dont think its fair to start crowning this kid yet. To be quite honest, Bush had better higlights than Burns all the way- i guess we forgot his performance when he bullied and dominated these kids at the South Florida express try outs. Hence, Bush's Jr's highlights are pretty darn good as well.

in conclusion, i hope Burns has the same if not a better fr year than Bush period.
