Stink.

Gaines can barely move. He was dusted against UNC.

Cornelius was falling all over himself out there yesterday.

Armbrister is pretty average.

I have to say I'm disappointed in where we're at with this position three years into Golden's tenure. We have one kid who can run and hit. Losing Eddie Johnson really hurt.

This is very true I havent seen Gaines make one play all y ear except falling on that fumble against Georgia Tech..Our Linebackers are embarassing

Gaines basically said, "I am going to give ALL I HAVE (Literally) against UF. After that, dont expect much from me." He hasnt done **** since that UF game. Sometimes I forget he is even out there.

Cornelius is who he is. Didnt expect much from him. In fact, I think he is still over-achieving. Made some season saving plays the past few weeks. Gotta give him credit for that.

Armbristier is still learning. He is a RS-So. He looks the part. But isnt consistant.

I think alot of people on here crowned "Figatron" too early. He will be a beast no doubt in the future but if buddy cant crack the starting lineup with some of these guys in front of him what does that tell you?

(And with all this said..I predict this group shuts down FSUs running game like they did UFs. I will be saying this all week. I think this defense, led by this group, will play the game of their lives on Sat.)

Chise mentioned it in a post but we are missing those explosive type athletes that we should have. When you look at the guys we trot on field you see it. Atleast we seem to be recruiting and hitting the position hard. With Figs, and the Miramar LB enrolled and Young wit the Jacksonville kid committed we should see a change in a couple seasons. I wish we could say the same for the safety position. Depth is a concern and with 25+ recruits committed we still dont have a headliner at the position,

Gaines fell on the ball against USF by the way and our linebackers have played pretty good honestly considering that against Wake, North Carolina, and GT, their offensive coordinator did a great job of creating obvious mismatches against our defense. Armbrsister is a redshirt sophomore and will get better and we have talent (Kirby, A-Tron) developing along with recruits coming in that will help for sure so at the end of the day, there are going to be bad game stretches but they are doing fine!

I wouldn't say they stink.. Because against Fla we were all praising the LB's and now all of a sudden they stink...Come on man!!! They are just looking ahead and not focused probably visualizing the FSU game before it was here.. Two bad games and they stink.... North Carolina who can stick with their Te Ebron if the Qb's are on...Wake forest it was missed tackling and quick hitters with five wides plus the wide splits.. Some time think about their responsibilities in the defense where the coaches may have them read or in zone.. Fellas as long as we are winning stop being Neg on the players who play for a team you love or not..Hmmmmmm....Go Canes!!!!!

Against Florida they were able to play close to the line of scrimmage vs a power run team in a pro set. The last two weeks they've faced spread teams, have been put out in space, and their lack of athleticism has been exposed.

It doesn't help that their DC is asking them to cover slot guys, but still, once they are forced to drop back in coverage, you start to realize we have one guy that looks like a Miami quality linebacker. Eddie Johnson would have been playing many meaningful snaps this year, but it concerns me that after three years this is the group we have.

I'm hoping Jermaine Grace and Figueroa are fast learners and ready to help in 2014.

The only knock i have on the LBs is their pass coverage, cornelious was getting destroyed the whole game, though ive been very impressed with coach D this season, there are a lot of times when there are LBs on WRs, and bcs of their lack of coverage we get drilled, though in the second half coach D put more corners on the field and wake was shut down for the most part except when they put cornilious back

I guess Perryman wasn't beat on Crawford's int..be real he's also loss then in space at times..

The 3rd and short play in which Cornelius was asked to cover Campenollo was about as poor a scheme as can be drawn up.

The hit by Perryman was unreal. If that was the QB he hit then Perryman gets thrown out of the game for the pure violence of the act.

D'Onofrio definitely isn't doing them any favors lining them up over wide receivers and keeping all three of them on the field when Wake was going 4 wide.

Your right but that's his style where he thinks his base Defense can guard any scheme....hopefully there will be some hidden blitz schemes this week.

Dorito loves to stay in base defense regardless of personnel, even against 5 wide we are in base D with LB all over the field spread on WR. Its maddening. It must make him feel pain when we go nickle or something.

this post is funny...we are undefeated and we still get stuff like this. Can we let the season play out first! I remember after the florida game we are all saying the opposite. We lost three veterans off the team who had eligibility left, because they were stupid! Two with starting experience.

also, I remember everyone on hear talking smack about kirby and how we was taking 59's spot, yet against UNC he was overmanned against that te and gave up that long td...ijs. I believe in all the kids that wear the green and orange. I willing to give them chances until Al says no more. We should trust the process, as Al preaches to the players.

Let's just say that the LB's need to step it up this week. They need to not overrun plays, get off blocks and don't whiff on tackles.

I'll never understand the logic that because we're undefeated we can't discuss the state of the team, both good and bad.

Aren't we all on a Canes message board to discuss the team? You think we're playing perfect and have no areas for improvement?
