In order to maintain the success that UCF has had under Heupel they have to keep a relatively similar offense.
Heupel was a Leach disciple who took the Air Raid passing concepts from Leach & combined it with a power run spread, that’s essentially the Oklahoma offense, same system that Lincoln Riley runs, in fact Heupel was Riley’s teacher. It’s the same system that Lashlee actually ran at SMU & is attempting to run here too.
So Malzahn will do the same, implement the Air Raid passing concepts & combine it with his AU rushing offense, which will look very similar to Heupel’s Oklahoma offense that he ran at UCF.
GJ Kinne is a smart X’s & O’s guy & giving his time at Hawaii he’ll understand how to use the high octane passing offense because they’re a Run-And-Shoot system, which is a close facsimile of the Air Raid & manufactures productivity in the same way as the AR does, you don’t even need a good QB because the ball is out of your hands in 3 seconds or less.
